Did you know that one of the most influential musical groups in American history was born right here in Nashville?

Founded in 1871 at Fisk University, the Fisk Jubilee Singers introduced the world to Negro spirituals—preserving the songs of enslaved Africans and elevating them to international stages. Their powerful voices not only transformed American music, but also helped raise funds to save Fisk University during its early years.

From concert halls across the U.S. and Europe to their lasting influence on gospel, classical, and spiritual music, the Fisk Jubilee Singers are a cornerstone of Nashville’s Black history and cultural legacy.

This Black History Month, we honor their faith, resilience, and enduring impact—proof that Nashville has long been a city where Black excellence leads and inspires the world.

Today, we said our farewells to our beloved Sorority Sister, colleague, and friend,
Dr. Marida Pace Newbern.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and Sorors. May we honor her life by carrying forward the love, excellence, and purpose she so beautifully embodied.

✨ Celebrating the Success of Our 19th Annual Dorothy Coley Edmond Scholarship Luncheon! ✨

Sunday’s luncheon was an incredible success! Because of your generosity, love, and unwavering support, Alpha Chi Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.® was able to award three $2000 scholarships to deserving nursing students right here in Middle Tennessee.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, and helped make this event memorable. Your contributions continue to honor the legacy of Dr. Dorothy Coley Edmond and uplift the next generation of nurses.
