Spend time in an air-conditioned location, such as a public library, community center or shopping mall. If indoor temperatures become unbearable, avoid using an electric fan. When indoor temperatures exceed 95°F, a fan may cause your body to gain heat rather than lose it.

Several YAIPAK team members recently participated in a Narcan training hosted by City of Refuge in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Health. The training provided participants with information on recognizing and responding to opioid overdoses, and each attendee received Narcan at the conclusion of the session.

Through partnerships like these, Community Adaptation Program partners continue gaining valuable skills and resources that help strengthen and support the communities they serve.

Today we recognize the five year anniversary of the devastating flooding that heavily impacted communities in Waverly, Tennessee.

American Red Cross volunteers from near and far, alongside our partners, supported those affected by providing shelter, food, disaster relief supplies and other critical assistance.

Mosquitoes don't deserve a drop, but patients in need do🤏🙂‍↕️

Thank you to Orkin of Tennessee for partnering with the American Red Cross of Tennessee for the "Mosquitoes Don't Deserve A Drop" blood drive campaign. Together, team members and community donors rolled up their sleeves to help ensure a stable blood supply for patients facing emergencies, surgeries and ongoing medical treatments.

Kathleen Aylmer's memory continues to inspire others to help save lives.

At a recent blood drive held in her honor, family, friends and community members gathered to celebrate Kathleen's legacy of love, service and strength. A special cake commemorated her life, while supporters honored her memory by giving blood and helping ensure patients have access to lifesaving transfusions when they need them most.

Pictured are Sean Aylmer, Kathleen's son; Kathleen's grandchildren; Pastor Lance Hanbey of Unicoi Christian Church; Evan Crumpton; and Christian Byrd. Also pictured is a photograph of Sean returning home from U.S. Marine Corps boot camp on Dec. 18, 1991. Kathleen passed away from cancer just 13 days later, on Dec. 31, 1991, at age 41.

More than three decades later, her legacy lives on through those who continue to honor her memory by helping others.❤️

In honor of Jeana Smith's legacy, family, friends and colleagues came together to help save lives through the In Honor of Jeana Smith Blood Drive.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, 38 units of blood were collected, helping provide hope and healing to patients who rely on lifesaving transfusions.

For much of his life, John Conely understood the importance of giving blood. He donated regularly for decades, often every eight weeks, and estimates he gave hundreds of pints over his lifetime. But after being diagnosed with a blood disorder that progressed to leukemia, John found himself on the other side of the donor chair.

At age 80, he relied on two or three blood transfusions each week while undergoing treatment. Those donations from people he would likely never meet helped sustain him through his toughest days. Today, John is doing well, a powerful reminder that every blood donation can help save a life.
