Tennessee Alliance for Progress (TAP)

Tennessee Alliance for Progress (TAP) This is the official Tennessee Alliance for Progress (TAP) FB page. TAP is building prosperous sustainable communities that benefit all Tennesseans.

Our key issues are Climate Change and Art and Activism. We also engage in grassroots leadership training. TAP was created in October 2001. Our mission is to build a prosperous, sustainable economy that benefits all Tennesseans. TAP believes that we need to articulate a hopeful vision for the future based on our motto "We are all in this together." TAP works to facilitate true political and economi

c democracy where people actively participate in decisions that affect their lives. We are also on the executive committee of Nashville Organized for Action and Hope (NOAH), a growing coalition of faith, labor and community groups.

Thank you to all those who have been attending our book club, Books on TAP! We had a deep conversation about hope and struggle, planting seeds for solutions, and harvesting results last night at our first in person hangout at TailGate Brewery! Be sure to pick up a copy of Valley So Low by Jared Sullivan if you haven’t done so already. See you at our next meeting in person on Monday, January 13th!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The board of TAP is so grateful for those who support our mission to build an alliance of everyday people who are hungry for change and ready to meet any challenge with hope across our beautiful state and beyond.

This holiday season, we are launching our new community building effort - Books on TAP, a book club hosted by our Secretary Jacquelyn F. Carter every month, rotating books every 3 months for a steady, engaging time. We usually meet every 3rd Monday of the month at 6:30pm CST. However, this month, we are meeting virtually with the author of Valley So Low, Jared Sullivan, on Tuesday, December 2nd at 6:30pm CST.

It’s a wonderful book about the Kingston Coal Ash Spill’s aftermath, and this meeting with the author is a fantastic way to participate in social justice. Even if you haven’t read the book yet, I still hope you attend for an informative and wholesome time!

Join our book club here or by scanning the QR code below: https://bookclubs.com/clubs/6061692/join/09c2b7/

If you can’t attend or don’t have the capacity for a book club, please consider donating to Appalachian Voices as they work for Justice for the Coal Ash Spill Workers. The 16th anniversary of the spill is December 22nd.

Thank you to everyone for your interest in, support for, and coming out to our benefit concert on Saturday! Our arts and activism committee worked intensely hard to pull off a good time with lovely folks for a great cause. We met our goal of making each Music for a Better World better than the last and raised some funds to support our work towards equitable climate and social justice along the way!

See ya next time!
