Milouse, Dada, and Gina are more than just farmers—they’re pillars of their communities. 🌿✨

Milouse finds joy in the land, nurturing her crops with the same care she gives to those around her. Dada knows the strength it takes to push through the toughest days, dreaming of a future where health isn’t a luxury. And Gina? She feels strongest when she can provide for her family, her energy fueling every step she takes.

For these women, farming isn’t just about food - it’s about resilience, empowerment, and the future they’re building with every harvest.

THANK YOU ! 💚🌱

Repost: “ might just have a solution to hunger: gardens.

The environmental partner builds organic urban gardens and brings fresh produce to communities facing food insecurity. For the past two years, 1% for the Planet members have helped support these three Harvest107 initiatives:

🪴Educate people on nutrition & sustainable agriculture
🪴Teach kids how to regrow plants from kitchen scraps
🪴Support urban gardens that provide farm-to-table snacks for students

This week of Earth Month, we’re highlighting the inspiring women farmers of Haiti who are leading the charge towards a more sustainable future. Through Harvest107’s innovative curriculum, we’re equipping them with the knowledge and tools to care for the environment while nourishing their communities.

Our curriculum focuses on a range of techniques that promote ecological balance and long-term agricultural success in Haiti’s unique climate.

💧 Water Wise: We teach women farmers valuable methods for rainwater collection, ensuring a reliable source of water for their crops, especially during dry periods.

🪴 Nourish the Soil: We emphasize the importance of healthy soil and educate farmers on composting techniques that enrich the soil with essential nutrients, reducing the need for external fertilizers.

🐝 Natural Solutions: Our curriculum empowers women to create their own 100% natural and organic pesticides and fertilizers, minimizing reliance on harmful chemicals and promoting a safer environment.

🥕 Growing Abundance: We teach farmers innovative techniques like propagation and regrowing food from scraps, maximizing yield
and minimizing waste.

🌱 Planting Harmony: Through companion planting strategies, women farmers learn to create mutually beneficial relationships between different crops, promoting biodiversity and natural
pest control.

🫘 Seed Security: Harvest107 equips farmers with the skills for seed collection and banking, ensuring a sustainable source of seeds for future generations and
preserving local varieties.

By empowering women farmers with sustainable practices, we’re not only improving their livelihoods but also fostering a more resilient and sustainable future for Haiti.

HAPPY EARTH MONTH! 🌍

This April, we’re celebrating the incredible connection between the food we eat and the health of our planet. Did you know that simply choosing local produce can be a powerful act of environmental stewardship?

🛒 THE POWER OF BUYING LOCAL

Reduced Food Miles: Conventional produce often travels thousands of miles before reaching your grocery store. This transportation burns fossil fuels and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. By choosing local, you’re significantly reducing your food’s carbon footprint.

Supporting Sustainable Practices: Small farms often prioritize environmentally-friendly practices like soil conservation, water management, and natural pest control. Your support helps keep these sustainable methods thriving!

Fresher, More Nutritious Food: Locally grown produce is picked at peak ripeness, meaning it retains more nutrients and tastes amazing.

🧑‍🌾 HELPING SMALL FARMERS, HELPS THE EARTH

Small farms are the backbone of sustainable agriculture. They re more likely to use techniques that protect the environment and promote biodiversity. But they often face challenges like access to resources and education.

Through our innovative curriculum, Harvest107 empowers small farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to implement sustainable practices. This not only benefits their farms but also contributes to a healthier planet for all.

Our Mission

Harvest107 believes that the prevention of hunger and malnutrition can best be achieved by working alongside women. When female farmers are given the same opportunities as men, yields increase and hunger decreases. When we empower female heads-of-house to grow nutritious foods that are otherwise too expensive, families are preserved and nourished; When we empower female farmers, they are able to provides an income as well. We believe women are the future of food-security and that sustainable agriculture and nutrition education are key to solving this issue.
