🙏🏽 Keith Lee says he’s changing his Midwest Food Tour plans and heading to Gary, Indiana instead of Chicago after learning thousands of residents are still struggling in the aftermath of devastating storms. The food reviewer says he’ll be helping distribute food and resources while using his platform to bring more attention to the community’s ongoing recovery efforts.

Food security isn’t just about homelessness or disability. Sometimes, it’s about transition and accessibility. Last week, our team provided food boxes to families moving into a new place—families working to build stability while navigating the costs and uncertainty that come with a major life change.

According to Feeding America’s Meal Gap Map, an estimated 55% of food-insecure Tennesseans have incomes above the SNAP threshold. As SNAP rules change, more working families may face gaps between wages and food costs. Let’s also not forget many of our neighborhoods are food desert. Food banks like Second Harvest help bridge those gaps—but they cannot replace SNAP benefits.

Food security means making sure every family can put food on the table, especially during times of transition. Let’s continue to be aware of the food crisis we are in, and do our best to help our neighbors in need.

Sometimes a backpack carries more than school supplies. It carries possibility. Choice. Confidence. A fresh start.

We are proud to support City Road Chapel UMC Back-to-School Drive, providing dozens of backpacks to help families prepare for a new school year. But our favorite part?! Watching students choose for themselves. Choosing what they needed. Choosing what excited them. Using their voices to ask for what mattered to them!

And then… a beautiful reminder that this is bigger than the students. A few high schoolers picked up supplies for their teachers and homerooms because, in their own words, “Our teachers are always asking for donations.” ❤️
That’s Community in Action!!

It reminds us that supporting students also means supporting the teachers, parents, administrators, and everyone helping create the village around them, When we show up together, we do more than fill backpacks. We fill gaps. We build confidence. We create connection. We remind people they are seen and maybe that’s the real power of a back-to-school drive! Not just giving supplies, but giving people a reason to believe that their community has their back!

Here’s to more partnerships. More inclusive gatherings. More voices at the table. More reasons to show up for one another.
When the community comes together, everybody gets a little stronger! ❤️

More new faces. More reasons to keep showing up. ❤️ Every outreach reminds us that behind every smile, every conversation, and every resource shared is a person with a story, a dream, and the hope for a better tomorrow.

This August, we're reflecting on what happens when a community chooses compassion over convenience. From our Annual Summer Street Outreach to building new partnerships we've witnessed something powerful: lasting change doesn't happen in a single moment—it grows through consistency, trust, and people who refuse to give up on one another.

To every volunteer who served, every partner who stood beside us, every donor who believed in the mission, and every neighbor who allowed us to walk alongside them—thank you. You are proof that love in action changes lives.

As the need continues to grow, so does our commitment to keep showing up. Because every person deserves dignity, hope, and the opportunity to thrive. Take a moment to read our August newsletter and see the impact we're making together.

If our mission speaks to your heart, we'd love for you to join us—through volunteering, partnering, donating, or simply sharing our story. Together, we're building stronger communities, one relationship at a time.
