We returned from Cuba a few weeks ago. The situation there remains hard, food shortages, a failing power grid, families sleeping outside in the heat. And no end in sight.
We visited a village called La Favela, about a thousand people, no running water anywhere, the nearest water source over a kilometer away. Pastor Yordan has been faithfully pastoring there for three years. We provided funding for a well. In less than a year, they have running water. The only sink with running water in the entire village. The church is now finding meaningful ways to meet the spiritual needs of their community by first meeting this very essential physical need.
Across all 16 provinces of Cuba, CFL has 15 couples on staff, lawyers, doctors, engineers, counselors, people who could be doing anything, who have chosen to stay and labor for the gospel. They are not asking us to come do the work for them. They are asking us to resource them so they can.
The church in Cuba is on fire. They just need us to show up with them.
