Happy ! ✍🏻 We love poems and song lyrics because they paint pictures of places we maybe have never seen; feelings we maybe have never felt; experiences we maybe have never had. But we can imagine them. And imagination breeds empathy. Empathy breeds understanding. Understanding breeds respect. And respect breeds peace.

About

3 Chords is a non-profit organization aimed at helping refugee youth share their stories through original songs in hopes of fostering global understanding and respect. We work with high school aged refugees in Nashville, TN to teach them how to write and perform original songs and play an instrument to tell share stories with the community and world.

The name 3 Chords comes from a phrase songwriters often say - that the only thing you need to write a song is "three chords and the truth." We take that phrase to heart, believing that it can empower high school refugees new to America to realize that if they can simply learn three chords on an instrument, that's all they'd need to be able to tell their truth through music.
