This is what R3 looks like.

A morning at Clear Creek turned into more than just a free fishing day. It became an opportunity to introduce the next generation to the outdoors. Around 165 young anglers joined us for Free Fishing Day to learn, fish, compete, and create memories outside.

From first casts to prize-winning catches, the day was all about recruiting, retaining, and reactivating a passion for the outdoors.

There’s still time to get outside and fish — Tennessee anglers ages 15 and younger can fish license-free through June 12 during Free Fishing Week. If you can, take someone fishing, introduce them to the outdoors, and help grow the next generation of conservationists. 🎣

Congratulations to this year’s Tennessee Junior Duck Stamp winner Emma Zhou!

The Junior Duck Stamp Program does more than inspire incredible artwork—it connects students to conservation, wildlife, and the outdoors through education and creativity.

TWRF is proud to support programs like Junior Duck Stamp that help introduce young people to Tennessee’s natural resources and foster the next generation of conservationists. By investing in youth education and outdoor engagement today, we’re helping ensure a strong future for wildlife and conservation tomorrow.

Congratulations again to all of the talented student artists who participated!

As we gear up for spring in Tennessee, turkey season is right around the corner This is the perfect time to highlight the importance of R3: Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation of hunters.

The Youth Hunt is happening this weekend (April 4–5), followed by the statewide season (April 11–May 24) across all 95 counties (be sure to check WMA-specific regulations). Hunters are limited to one gobbler per day, two per season, with only one jake allowed.

Good luck this season, and hunt safe!
