The 3rd Annual Berry Hill reunion at Azalea Park on June 6th, from 11-4. The park is surrounded by music history, including Blackbird Studio, owned by singer Martina McBride and her husband.

The 3rd Annual Berry Hill Reunion on June 6, 11am-4pm at Azalea Park. The park is surrounded by music history, including Randy Scruggs Sound Studio & Soultrain Sound are part of that history.
In 1980, Scruggs established Scruggs Sound Studio, a recording studio located in Berry Hill, Tennessee.[4] The studio was the location where the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recorded Will the Circle Be Unbroken: Volume Two (1989) and its followup in 2002, as well as Keith Whitley: A Tribute Album (1994). Other artists recording at the studio included Toby Keith, Donna Ulisse, John Michael Montgomery, and others.
In 2018, Scruggs sold the studio to Johnny Reid, who renovated and reopened it as Soultrain Sound Studios in 2020. Soultrain Sound Studio client's included:

Buzz Cason - The Ballad of Berry Hill: The 3rd annual Berry Hill reunion, with us (then) kids playing in the neighborhood, as well as the three parks. The reunion is at Azalea Park, surrounded by music history. Creative Workshop (across from the park) is a part of that music history.
Creative Workshop: Around 1970, Jimmy Buffett was signed as a writer for Cason's publishing company, Let There Be Music. The first record they produced in the new studio was Jimmy’s record “High Cumberland Jubilee”.
Also in those early days Papa Don Schroeder came in and produced Carl Carlton’s million-seller hit, “Everlasting Love” (written by Buzz Cason and Mac Gayden), on the 8-track machine at Creative.
Other notable sessions during this original incarnation of Creative Workshop (1970-75) included the Doobie Brothers, Leon Russell, Brenda Lee, Olivia Newton-John, and a particularly legendary late night when Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and the rest of their band, Faces, came in to jam as the tape rolled after their only Nashville concert at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in 1975.

I would like to see this documentary on Berry Hill. The only showing that I know of was at the Country Music Hall Of Fame. If anybody finds it anywhere, let me know. Buzz Cason had the film made. He dies a few years ago, so who knows if it will be shown again or end up on YouTube. (Pat Adams)

We will be having a 3rd Berry Hill reunion on June 6th at the park located on Azalea Place from 11 to 4pm. Bring your lunch and a chair (some tables are available under the pavilion). Bring old photos too if you like. This will give us plenty of time to locate more people that once lived there. Last year was a blast. See you there!

1971: Video of Columbine Place around Columbine Park from about 1971.
You can see what the street and park looked like back in the day. I'm in the video playing with the dog. My brothers are in it at the end. Our dogs are in it, as well as our old house. The house still stands, but probably not for long. A Music Campus has is suppose to be in the making, completely changing the park and houses around the park. We'll see. I shot most of the video. Buzz Cason - The Ballad Of Berry Hill
Sad to hear of the passing of Buzz Cason. Buzz had the first studio in an area filled with recording studios, now. His Creative Workshop Studio on Azealia Street recorded many great artists. His studio probably help make the area, a music related neighborhood. And, he was in Nashville's first rock & roll band, The Casuals. Jimmy Buffett recorded many times at Creative Workshop. And, I found a song by Buzz about Berry Hill. How cool! (Pat Adams)

Bring your lunch or stop at any of the restaurants nearby. Bring chairs, old pictures, kids and grandkids if you like. Or, just stop by and say hi. We are making our Berry Hill page active again. With a reunion of Berry Hill kids from the 60's & 70's coming soon, we will be posting pictures and information of Berry Hill, as well as the reunion.
