Thank you for joining us in celebrating 155 years of excellence, sacrifice, perseverance, and legacy.

From the timeless voices of the Jubilee Singers and the heartfelt words of Earnest Gibson III class of ’05 and our other honored guests to the Jubilee pilgrimage, today was a beautiful reminder of the legacy we inherit and the responsibility we carry forward.

Another beautiful chapter in Fisk history.

May her sons and daughters live forever on the Altar. 💙💛

More than a century after Mark Twain encountered the Fisk Jubilee Singers® in Europe, their music continues to leave its mark.
In The Tennessean, Bo Roberts reflects on Twain’s admiration for the Singers, the history behind Jubilee Day and his own experience witnessing that legacy at Fisk.

As we gather for Jubilee Day this morning, read the full piece ahead of today’s program. We look forward to welcoming our Fisk community and friends to Fisk Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m.

On October 6, we gather to celebrate 155 years of Jubilee Day and honor the extraordinary legacy of the Fisk Jubilee Singers®.

From their historic tours beginning in 1871 to introducing African American spirituals to audiences across the globe. Their voices not only raised funds to save Fisk University, but also opened doors, and created a legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Join us in the Fisk Memorial Chapel for this special celebration featuring our guest speaker, Ernest Gibson III, Class of 2005. A proud member of the Fisk family, Ernest returns to celebrate and share his journey and accomplishments.

Fisk’s Fall 2026 Industry Expo brought 20 employers, agencies and graduate programs to campus, with students from every major invited into the room.

“What I enjoy most is watching students begin to connect what they’re learning at Fisk to the broader professional world,” said Latreace Wells, AVP of Career Planning and Development. “These conversations help them ask better questions, understand their options more clearly and see the value of the education they’re receiving here.”

This year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings mark another meaningful step forward for Fisk, with the University ranking #20 among HBCUs nationwide and #10 among private HBCUs, while climbing 21 spots to #14 in social mobility among National Liberal Arts Colleges.

That rise in social mobility reflects how well Fisk supports students from lower-income backgrounds through graduation and helps expand what is possible for them beyond college. For an institution founded to widen access to higher education, that progress carries particular meaning.

The recognition builds on a year of institutional strength, including Fisk’s successful SACSCOC reaffirmation with full compliance and continued national recognition from Forbes.
