A look through the Sunday in the Park archives....

Sunday in the Park has a long tradition of bringing our community together to preserve and protect Warner Parks. The very first event was launched in 1990 by Clare Armistead and Trudy Byrd at Ridge Field, where we continue to celebrate today! ✨🌳

To date, this annual gathering has raised more than $12 million for Percy and Edwin Warner Park. We are grateful to every chair, sponsor, and supporter who has helped keep this mission growing. Our parks are better because of you.

We cannot wait to gather again this weekend with our 36th Annual Sunday in the Park Chairs, Graham Meadors and Caylan Jarman. See you at Ridge Field! 💚

If you’ve walked along the Harpeth Woods Trail, you’ve likely seen the winding beauty of Vaughn’s Creek—but lately, it’s faced serious erosion from heavy rains, even threatening trails and bridges

To protect this beloved stream, we’ve launched a pioneering restoration project using reclaimed railroad rails and recycled conveyor belts from Lhoist North America. These materials help slow floodwaters, stabilize the streambank, and reinforce trails—while giving new life to old materials. ♻️🌿

In the next phases, we’ll be bolstering bridges, improving habitat, and enhancing public access. This work isn’t just about fixing damage—it’s about preserving a peaceful sanctuary for nature lovers, wildlife, and our community.

A huge thank you to The Swan Ball Nashville's underwriters, supporters, and 250+ volunteers! Friends of Warner Parks is honored to receive a $1 million gift from the 2025 Swan Ball. 🌿💚

This transformative gift will fuel the Warner Park Nature Discovery Program, advance plans for the Nature Discovery Barn Living Building, and support vital conservation efforts across our parks—from restoring meadows to maintaining beloved trails.

We’re grateful to 2025 Co-Chairs Melanie Shadow Baker and Laura Goodall Niewold for their vision and leadership.

Mark your calendars: Swan Ball returns to Edwin Warner Park on June 6, 2026, with Jenny Richter Corts and Jennie Garth Lovvorn Lowe as Co-Chairs, and Friends of Warner Parks as beneficiary once again.

From Bare Ground to Blooming Gardens 🐝🦋🌱

Last fall, we funded a new project through our Nature Discovery Program: building native pollinator gardens at Antioch, Looby, and Hartman community centers.

The goal? Beautify urban spaces, create outdoor classrooms for youth, and provide much-needed habitat for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators—all while strengthening biodiversity across Nashville.

With the help of volunteers, students, and neighbors, we prepped sites in the fall, planted natives in the spring, and cared for them through the summer.

Today, less than a year later, these once-empty spaces are buzzing with life—colorful blooms, busy pollinators, and kids learning right in their own communities.

🌼 These gardens show what’s possible when we come together to care for the land, our youth, and our shared future.
