Imagine battling a life-threatening illness—and finding out your food assistance is being taken away.
This is the reality faced by the 530 Middle and West Tennessee kidney patients enrolled in TKF programs, starting Saturday, 11/01/25. But TKF can help by enrolling more people in our food delivery program and helping others purchase kidney-friendly groceries to avoid going hungry.
100% of TKF program clients have SNAP benefits - not much, but a little help to purchase groceries. Our program clients are older adults (ages 60+), disabled, and living with significant medical conditions.
To qualify for SNAP, a family must have household incomes of at or below 130% of the federal poverty level. TKF program client households have incomes of less than 93% of the federal poverty level - that means every single person we serve qualifies—and every single one will lose this critical support. Beginning November 1st, TKF's 530 clients- already fighting kidney disease- will have to take on a new fight every day in how to afford food.
Losing $100-$300 per month in SNAP benefits while also living on an extremely limited income and stretched to their limits by medical bills makes it all seem insurmountable. They are facing the reality of empty refrigerators and skipping meals. This is more than just a hardship; it's an emergency for our program clients. Local food banks and pantries are overwhelmed and unequipped to meet the strict dietary needs of kidney patients.
Without help, many will go hungry. You can change that—today. Right now, with a donation, you can deliver hope, one meal at a time.
• $27 = 3 meals
• $45 = 5 meals
• $90 = 10 meals
• $225 = 25 meals
• $450 = 50 meals
Our program clients are already fighting for their lives. Let’s make sure they don’t have to fight for food, too.
TKF is committed to meeting this need. With your help, we’ll deliver more than meals—we’ll deliver hope, dignity, and the strength to keep going.
