Please see the below message from consulate JET Coordinator Tye Ebel. If anyone is interested in a one-day interpreter job at the Nashville Public Library next week, please contact him at [email protected]. Thanks!

Is anyone interested in a one-day gig as an interpreter?

The Nashville International Puppet Festival will run June 17-19 at the Downtown Main Library. One of the festival’s marquee performers is Tokyo’s famed puppet troupe, Kawasemi-Za. Heralded for their originality and advanced technique, Kawasemi-Za creates custom marionette-style puppets inspired by both fantasy and reality.

The library is in urgent need of a translator who can help on Thursday, June 16 from 8:30am-4pm at the Main Library. During this time Kawasemi-Za will be loading in their materials and rehearsing their show. Library staff and A/V professionals will be on hand to assist them but an interpreter is essential to expressing their needs and questions and helping the troupe execute their vision.

A student is okay and they will offer payment. An interpreter with a knowledge of arts and stage performance is preferred.

If you are interested, contact us ASAP and we can put you in touch with the right people.

March 3rd in Japan is お雛祭り, or Girl's Day. This holiday is celebrated with some special sweets(that taste like some America cereals), and by families with single daughters of any age setting up a traditional doll display.
It looks like Japan is starting to put a little more modern twist on the dolls though..
