Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association

Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association CHNA represents the interests of the Crieve Hall Community in Nashville, TN Why should I be a member of the Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association?

If you live in the boundary of Crieve Hall, the question should be
"why would I NOT want to be a member of CHNA and support the activities of the neighborhood where I live?"

Here are few reasons to join that we think would be important to any family. You Have representation with CHNA. In 2004, a small group of neighbors alerted the neighborhood to a Metro plan to build road connectors into our n

eighborhood. The neighborhood turned out with over 1000 at the meeting opposing that plan. What would have happened if nobody had taken action? Metro would have acted against the will of the people of our neighborhood. It was at that point we realized that we needed an organization to represent the views of our neighborhood. Since 2004, that plan to build road connectors has been proposed and defeated 3 more times. The Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association has represented the will of the people who live here. In October of 2004 soon after we formed CHNA, neighbors became aware of plans by development companies interested in coming into our neighborhood to tear down single family homes to build multiplex housing. Neighbors were opposed to this. The Crieve Hall Neighborhood Association collected nearly 1000 petition signatures and helped to sponsor a bill to re-zone the entire neighborhood to single family homes only. The will of the people was granted in June of 2005 when Metro granted one of the largest re-zoning tracks ever in the history of Nashville. Together we can do BIG things. There is power in being organized.

Edited to add: The State of Tennessee requested an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration on Jan. 28. While Tennessee does not yet have a declaration to provide assistance to individuals and households, we are working with our communities to gather the data necessary to validate our request. This is why we are asking for residents whose homes have been impacted by Winter Storm Fern to report their damages: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/9d585f7786564e52a34be72254f425ce

But please note: this process does not guarantee assistance.

There's been a lot of confusion online about what storm recovery funding is.

You may have heard we received Emergency Declaration funds. Emergency Declarations are for state and local governments so they can take immediate steps to protect the whole community. They are not for individuals.

Right now, there are no FEMA funds available for individuals.

If you need support, local nonprofits or 211 can help connect you with resources based on your situation.

Update from our Tennessee State Senator, Heidi Campbell:

On Jan. 24, Gov. Lee announced that the President granted an Emergency Declaration to support Tennessee’s response. This declaration supports response activities by providing Tennessee access to federal operational resources for the response. However, it does not include federal assistance for individuals, households, or reimbursements.
Yesterday, Governor Lee requested an Expedited Major Disaster Declaration. If granted, this would make federal aid, including aid for individuals and households, available in 23 counties.
