Thanks to everyone who FLOCKed to Knoxville last night! 🐦 State Representative Jason Zachary State Representative Michele Reneau State Rep. Lowell Russell Danika Theoneandonly Joshua Wallin

The message from Knoxville & surrounding communities was loud and clear: people are concerned about government overreach, the growing use of ALPRs, & what it means for our constitutional rights.

When technology allows the government to track where we go & when we go there, we should be asking serious questions.

Fourth Amendment, anyone? 🇺🇸

Do you think it's time to cap local property taxes in Tennessee?

Tennessee likes to brag about being a low-tax state: no income tax, recent cuts for small businesses, a reputation for fiscal restraint.

But your property tax bill isn't set in the state legislature. It's set by your local governments, and 46 states have a law on the books capping how fast those bills can grow. Tennessee has no such protection.

The result: Tennessee posted the highest percentage increase in property taxes of any state over the past six years—by a double-digit margin over the next closest state. Locally, the hikes have been staggering: Mt. Juliet approved a 164% increase. Fairview, 42%. Nashville homeowners have watched their bills climb 60% in five years. Red Bank just passed its third hike in five years.

Compare that to Texas, which somehow managed to grow its population faster than Tennessee AND cut property taxes on average.

Tennessee residents deserve basic taxpayer protections found in 46 other states; otherwise, massive local property tax hikes will likely continue. The longer Tennessee goes without a property tax cap, massive local government tax hikes will continue to undercut the state’s reputation as a low-tax, fiscally responsible place to live, work, and raise a family.
