The Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. welcomes YOU to our next Σervice Σaturday in collaboration with the Omega Pi Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. . This is an initiative where we open up the community service projects we participate in to the community.

On Saturday, October 3rd from either 7am-10am OR 10am-1pm, we will be at Centennial Park volunteering with the Centennial Park Conservancy for the 30th Anniversary Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival.

Celebrate Nashville brings together more than 50 cultures represented throughout Nashville through music, dance, visual arts, food, education, and more. Volunteers will help support the festival through traffic management, assisting vendors and performers, staffing the Centennial Park Conservancy booth, litter cleanup, setup, teardown, and other needs throughout the day.

We are excited to support an event that celebrates the many cultures and communities that make Nashville home.

As we near the end of Su***de Prevention Month, the Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. continued our Σervice Σaturdays initiative by volunteering with AFSP Tennessee for the Nashville Out of the Darkness Walk at Centennial Park.

Our chapter helped prepare for the walk by setting up the stage and sound system, organizing tables for registration and the kids area, putting up tents, and assisting with other event setup needs. More importantly, we had the opportunity to support an event centered on remembrance, hope, and creating a community where conversations about mental health are met with compassion and support.

We also participated in the walk’s Beads activity, where the beads we selected represented our personal connection to su***de prevention and the different ways we support the cause.

BAKING DOWN THE STIGMA

Join the NPHC Fraternities for Baking Down the Stigma, an event where we come together, bake together, and create a space for honest conversations surrounding men’s sexual assault, mental health, and other topics that are often stigmatized.

The Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. welcomes YOU to our next Σervice Σaturday, an initiative where we open up the community service projects we participate in to the community.

On Saturday, September 19th from 7:45am-11am, we will be at Centennial Park volunteering with the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention to help set up the Nashville Out of the Darkness Community Walk. Volunteers will assist with setting up the stage and sound system, tables, tents, registration areas, the kids area, and more.

The Out of the Darkness Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support that brings the Nashville community together to recognize the ways su***de and mental health conditions have affected our lives and the lives of those we love. We are honored to play a small role in helping create a space where people can come together, remember, support one another, and continue working toward a brighter future.

The sign up is located in our bio. Limited spots are available, so make sure to sign up by Thursday at 11:59pm. We hope to see you Saturday. GOMAB!

Σervice Σaturdays are off to a great start!

Due to the high volume of applicants for this week’s Service Saturdays initiative, the Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. expanded our efforts and served at TWO projects this past Saturday.

At Centennial Park, volunteers helped with a cleanup and beautification project with the Centennial Park Conservatory, contributing to the upkeep of one of Nashville’s most cherished public spaces.

We also continued our Winter Storm Fern cleanup efforts, assisting with debris removal and helping members of the Nashville community recover from the damage left behind by the storm.

We were incredibly grateful to see the overwhelming passion and willingness to serve from so many members of our community. Service is about recognizing our responsibility to the people and places around us and choosing to leave them better than we found them. For that reason, we look forward to continuing to open more opportunities for students and community members to serve, connect, and give back to Nashville.

A special thank you to Nathan Murphy of the Alpha Gamma Chapter at Fisk University for your help and support throughout this project. Our cause speeds on its way. 🤘🏾
