is a youth development organization that strives to make a positive impact in the lives of teens through educational opportunities and on-line resources. Our goal is to develop young leaders through education and empowerment and create a well-informed community to provide support for the development and success of young men and women. focuses on two concentrated areas in order to accomplish its mission, life skills and leadership development. Life Skills refer to positive behavior and practices that allow individuals to successfully confront and conquer the demands and challenges of everyday life. Leadership is the ability to gain the confidence, respect and loyalty of your peers toward a common goal and inspire them to dream, learn, do and become more in return.

The college process can feel overwhelming — especially for first generation students and families navigating it without a roadmap. Here's what every Black and Brown girl needs to know before she applies:

1️⃣ Start early. Junior year is not too early. Sophomore year is even better. The earlier she starts building her story, her résumé, and her list — the stronger her applications will be.

2️⃣ Tell HER story. College essays are not about being perfect. They are about being real. Admissions teams want to know who she is — not who she thinks they want her to be. Her story is her superpower.

3️⃣ Don't leave money on the table. Apply for every scholarship she qualifies for. Fill out the FAFSA early. Research grants. Financial aid is available — but only for the girls who go looking for it.

4️⃣ Visit before you decide. A campus can look perfect on paper and feel completely wrong in person. Whenever possible help her visit — because where she spends the next four years matters deeply.

This is exactly the kind of guidance we provide inside Empower University. Because no girl should have to figure this out alone. 🎓

Confidence is caught as much as it is taught. And as the adults in her life — what she watches you do matters just as much as what you tell her to do. Here are 4 ways to raise a daughter who knows exactly who she is and isn't afraid to show it:

1️⃣ Let her use her voice. In conversations. At the dinner table. In rooms where she's the youngest person there. Let her speak — and listen when she does.

2️⃣ Celebrate effort not just results. When she tries hard and fails she needs to know that's still worth celebrating. Resilience is built in the moments after disappointment.

3️⃣ Surround her with strong women. Representation is powerful. When she sees women who look like her leading, building, and thriving — she starts to believe she can too.

4️⃣ Let her see you be bold. Take the risk. Speak up. Go after what you want. She is watching everything you do — and she's taking notes. 💛
