We are proud to share this reflection from a University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine student who participated in our Global Health Education Program!

This program is a multifaceted initiative focused on expanding healthcare knowledge and capacity through education and collaboration. Through partnerships with medical schools in the US and Kenya, we provide global health electives and internship opportunities that connect students with valuable international experiences.

A case presented by Hussein from our Maternal and Child Health Program in Somalia highlights how telemedicine can connect frontline health workers with clinical expertise. The consulting doctor from our Telemedicine Program provided guidance on evaluating the infant’s scalp condition and recommended prompt malaria treatment and close monitoring!

Today marks the 25th anniversary of September 11. We pay tribute to the lives lost and honor the courage of the first responders and everyday heroes who came together during a time of profound loss.

We remember their lives and the lasting impact they left on our communities. ❤️

Vera, our Program Navigator with the HIV Program in Kenya, shared the story of a client she is currently following up on.

The client had been lost to follow-up, but our team was able to trace and reach him. He is currently struggling with his mental health and often wanders from one place to another.

Since losing his wife four months ago, he has been living alone with no one to consistently care for him. Thankfully, we were able to identify a caretaker to support him when he returns to the area.

We remain hopeful that he can access the care he needs. ❤️

Ibrahim and his team of community health workers visited a neighboring IDP camp in Mogadishu, Somalia welcoming newly arrived families. We met many children in need of medical care, particularly those experiencing malnutrition and related health challenges.

It was a meaningful time spent with the children and families, and we look forward to returning next week with needed medications and support!
