Resurrecting Robin's Mission is to help restore a dignified life to those beaten down by domestic violence by raising them up with God's love, working together to help fight domestic violence and restore life with strength for tomorrow. After finally finding freedom from such a dead and broken life, she was restored; she was resurrected. Named after my own aunt's liberation, Resurrecting Robin was
founded in 2006 as a high school newspaper's community service project of adopting a mother and her 2 sons from the local domestic violence shelter during Christmas. Within 2 weeks of presenting the project to the school, over 500 volunteers were involved in collecting a multitude of gifts for the family. The project was a success and many requested the project be recreated the following year. More women and children were adopted, and thus the trend of increasing the amount of sponsored residents each year began. By year four, over 30 victims were successfully provided for during the holiday season. Today, Resurrecting Robin is now an on-call volunteer base for the YWCA Nashville, providing necessary volunteers for a variety of service projects, fundraisers, drives, and of course, the ever-so popular annual Christmas sponsorships. We have a vision to grow into a transitional housing and career counseling program for local shelters' residents post-program, but due to limited finances and resources, we are happy with what God has developed us to be so far. Our mission will always remain the same, though, and that is to help restore a dignified life to those beaten down by domestic violence by raising them up with God's love, working together to help fight domestic violence and restore life with strength for tomorrow.
