Music City TN Chapter The Links, Incorporated

Music City TN Chapter The Links, Incorporated The Music City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated had its beginning in the Fall of 1979 when 21 women organized a club known as Circle of Friends.

The group met monthly at the home of Clementine L. Hamilton with Cecille E. Crump as the initiating spirit behind the endeavor. The aspirations of the group were realized on June 27, 1981, when the Music City Chapter of The Links, Incorporate was chartered.

The Music City Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in support of the Black K.A.R.E.S. (Kidney Awareness, Resources, and Education) program, played a key role in executing Bellies & Babies, a community baby shower, this past Saturday at Nissan Stadium.

With leadership from Kim Wyche, M.D., a dedicated member of the chapter, this initiative reflected community health in action at its finest.

Pregnant and postpartum women were not only seen, but fully supported through vital screenings and meaningful education, including:

• Blood pressure
• Blood glucose
• Kidney health awareness

This is what it looks like when purpose meets service and we intentionally stand in the gap for our communities.

Because every mother deserves care, and every baby deserves a healthy start.

Day 1 Recap: Links Day at the Tennessee State Capitol

Day 1 of Links Day at the Tennessee State Capitol was a powerful demonstration of service, advocacy, and civic engagement. Members began the day with a meaningful service project at the Cordell Hull Building, where they packed kits for middle school girls in Nashville, supporting dignity, health, and access for young women in our community.

The day continued at the State Capitol’s Legislative Library, where members participated in a session focused on developing legislative interface skills and reviewing key legislation aligned with the mission of The Links, Incorporated. The discussion, led by the Legislative Affairs Subcommittee of the Legislative and Developmental Affairs Subcommittee equipped members with the knowledge and tools to effectively engage in policy conversations that impact our communities.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of proclamations and opportunities to engage directly with state leaders. We extend our sincere appreciation to State Senator Charlane Oliver, Representative Karen Camper, Representative Joe Towns Jr., Representative Harold Love Jr.,
Representative Justin J. Pearson, and Representative Raumesh Akbari for their leadership and partnership in recognizing the impact of The Links, Incorporated.

We also extend our gratitude to the NAACP Nashville Branch for their continued commitment to advocacy and community advancement.

The day concluded with a Legislative Reception hosted by Spencer Fane, LLP, providing an opportunity for members and legislators to continue building relationships that advance policies and initiatives benefiting communities across Tennessee.

Links Day at the Capitol serves as a powerful reminder that when service and advocacy come together, meaningful change is possible.
