To further celebrate NDEAM month, we want to highlight the stories of some the people that directly work in helping find employment for the participants in our work programs. One of those people is Brenda Morford, ECF/VR Director in Dover and Paris.

It’s important that every person is heard, valued, and treated with dignity.
At PDI, there is a bond throughout the agency, especially between staff and people we support. Those relationships are built on respect, trust and understanding.
PDI has always meant more to me than just a job.
I’ve been here for 33 years and have had the opportunity to work in several roles over that time, including Early Intervention, Supported Employment, and management. Now, I serve as the Regions 1 and 3 ECF/VR Director in Dover and Paris.
My journey into this field began with my love for special education. Early in my life, I worked with special education students in the school system, and that experience sparked a passion for helping individuals grow and improve their quality of life.
Witnessing the growth in each person, watching them achieve their goals and gain confidence is the best part of my job. Every success, no matter how small, brings a sense of purpose and pride.
I believe PDI has lasted 50 years because of the love and commitment shared with people we support. My hope for the future is that we continue focusing on each person’s rights, dignity, and independence while providing the tools they need to live the life they choose.
PDI may be known as an organization that provides services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but to me it is much more. We are not just an agency—we are family. We are advocates, and we strive every day to uphold Pride, Dignity, and Independence.
