Rest in peace, and rise in power, Rev. James Lawson (1928-2024). Lawson's students played a leading role in the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington, Freedom Summer, the Children's Crusade in Birmingham, the 1965 Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights March, the Chicago Freedom Movement, and the Anti-Vietnam War Movement.

A Methodist minister, he was a principal tactician behind the sit-ins, marches and Freedom Rides that withstood attacks by mobs and police throughout the 1960s.

This year we are returning to Alabama on the “Bus Ride to Justice” tour and will visit the EJI Legacy Museum and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.
