🎸 Meet Hector Tellez Jr.

Born and raised in Havana, Cuba, Hector is a soulful rock singer-songwriter and guitarist now based in Nashville. He writes and performs in both English and Spanish, drawing on influences from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Leonard Cohen to shape his own sound.

He'll be one of three songwriters sharing their stories and songs at Latino Voices on October 2.

That's the heart Supaman brings to every stage, and it's exactly why Global Education Center and WilCo Powwow are proud to bring him to Nashville together.

This partnership is about more than presenting a great show. It's two organizations united in honoring Indigenous culture and creating spaces where community can gather, celebrate, and feel seen.

She said a voice told her, draw or die. So she drew.

Minnie Evans began creating art in the early 1940s, compelled by dreams and faith. What followed was a lifetime of visionary paintings rooted in her spirituality, her upbringing in Wilmington, NC, and the world she saw beyond the everyday.

Her work is now part of major museum collections across the country, yet her story remains one many people have never heard.

Voices of the Americas is more than a concert series, it's a chance to sit close to the people shaping Nashville's Latino music community and hear where their songs really come from.

On October 2, we're welcoming Elia Esparza, Hector Tellez Jr., and Juan y Ambar to Global Education Center for Latino Voices, an evening of songwriters in the round. Each artist takes a turn sharing the story behind a song, then plays it live, before passing it to the next.

Between them, they carry Mexican, Cuban, Colombian, and Peruvian heritage and a wide range of musical styles, from soulful pop to rock to acoustic songwriting duos. What ties them together is the journey of building a home in a new city, and the songs that came out of it.

This is the kind of night that reminds us why Global Education Center exists, to use the arts to bring people together across culture, and to give artists a room where their stories are honored.

Special thanks to La Cara Productions for curating this lineup, and to Metro Arts, the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and the Tennessee Arts Commission for supporting this evening.
