For years, Melissa has dreamed of starting a summer English class built around something simple: conversation, community, and a good cup of tea or coffee. This year, that dream became a reality, and it has been amazing — there is so much learning and laughter that happens when this class is in session!
Each week's conversation starts with a game like Uno or Simon Says, which gets everyone loosened up and learning as they play. Then, the class moves into a dedicated conversation piece, where students practice the kind of everyday, practical English a regular class might not always get to. Last week's theme was the human body — lower levels practiced words like arms and legs, while higher levels tackled terms like gallbladder and colonoscopy, so everyone left feeling a little more confident navigating a doctor's appointment. Other classes have covered July 4th vocabulary, chores, and much more.
Moments like these happen because people like you help make them possible. If you'd like to be part of what helps students keep growing their English, one class at a time, please consider joining as a monthly donor: legacymissionvillage.org/give
