Weekly English Country Dance classes start at 6pm and are free at Sevier Park Community Center. The Nashville Country Dancers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
dancing the traditional dances of the United States (Appalachian squares and circles, New England contras) couple dances like waltzes, and English country dances. Volunteer run, the group sponsors a weekly Friday contra dance year ro
und and weekly and monthly English Country Dances in the fall, winter and spring. We also stage two dance weekends -- a March Playford Ball in the Spring focusing on the English country dance repertoire, and a Contra Dance weekend in the Fall, the Music City Masquerade, typically on the weekend closest to Halloween. All dances are taught and accompanied by live music and accessible to people of all ages and ideally suited for bringing the community together. Our Spring Playford Ball weekend does assume that dancers are experienced and familiar with all common English Country Dance figures. Those wanting to gain experience should attend our weekly Monday night session (held during the school year) and our Sunday one a month series (Sept-Apr).
