Hillsboro West End Neighborhood co-chairs Russanne Buchi-Fotre', Susan Schipani, and Miriam Mimms welcome you to this FREE, family-friendly community tradition held twice a year in memory of our dear neighbor, Irish Park.

As always, there's no obligation to bring anything, although all are welcome to stay a while, crack a cold beverage, trade advice, and take whatever green offerings you like.

Our generous green-thumpers often donate house plants, divided perennials, seedlings, seeds, and all manner go garden accoutrements, so don't by shy; come on by!

Many, many thanks to the Hillsboro-West End Neighborhood, friends, dignitaries, and the family of Jan Bushing who helped make the JAN BUSHING BRIGE dedication a smashing success.

Yes, it was a hot day, but close to 100 attendees gathered at the new TDOT sign on the Woodlawn-Interstate 440 bridge to remember Jan. They took precautions to stay cool with umbrellas, fans, hats, cooling towels, and ice water and to celebrate the naming of the bridge after community activist and HWEN founding president, the late Jan Bushing.

Speaking on behalf of Stuart Bushing and the family was daughter Emily Bushing In all, twenty family members attended, several from across the country. After the ceremony, the group decamped to the gracious Woodlawn Drive home of Leighton and Yates Bryant for a tailgate reception with cake and refreshments.

Five elected officials attended and spoke at the ceremony:

Also on hand to honor Jan were:

THE FIRST VU FOOTBALL GAME
OF THE SEASON THIS SATURDAY
A MESSAGE FROM VANDERBILT

Dear Neighbors,

We have a few details to share as we prepare for the Vanderbilt vs Austin Peay football game on Saturday, September 5.

Kickoff for the game is at 6:00 p.m. Tailgating begins at 3:00 p.m., and Star Walk begins at 3:20 p.m.

Road Closures
Vanderbilt Place: Between 28th & 29th Ave, closed Friday & Saturday
Natchez Trace: Closes at 11:00 a.m. Saturday
Kensington & remaining Vanderbilt Place: Closes 3:00 p.m. Saturday

Noise Reminders
Please be aware of the following game-day noise elements:
Fireworks are shot off pregame, during the National Anthem and each time Vanderbilt scores.
A horn is sounded pregame (one or two times), on third downs, and when Vanderbilt scores.
Neighbors may hear amplified sound, including music, announcements, whistles and other game-day production elements inside and surrounding FirstBank Stadium.

Additional Impacts
The Vanderbilt Band practice on Natchez Field 5:30 Friday night.
Drone show at halftime of the football game on Saturday night.
Increased noise and traffic are expected before, during and after the game.

All ages. No ticket is required to join the fun!

What to expect in the newly revamped Vandyville?
· Vandyville 3 p.m.: food, beverage, kids' zone and vendors
· Star Walk 3:20 p.m.: Natchez Trace/Jess Neely/stadium.
· American Authors concert 4 p.m. in Commodore Court
· Food trucks: Hattie B's, Daddy's Dogs, Ice Crown, more!
· New beverage purchase locations throughout Vandyville.
· Kids' Zone: inflatables, glitter bar, lawn games, more!
· Military displays as part of our Salute to Service game
· Vanderbilt Bookstore includes custom jersey bar
· Interactive photo opportunities

We encourage all fans to stay hydrated, bring a hat, wear sunscreen, and take proper steps to beat the heat on Saturday!
