Vox Grata Women's Choir is deeply honored to receive this generous gift from ALIAS Chamber Ensemble.
For over two decades, ALIAS set a standard in the Nashville arts community for pairing artistic excellence with true generosity, and we are humbled that they have entrusted us to carry a piece of that legacy forward. We have not yet finalized how these funds will be used, and we intend to take the time to steward this gift thoughtfully and in a way that honors ALIAS' vision.
In the meantime, we remain committed to our own tradition of donating proceeds from each concert to a designated nonprofit - a practice inspired by ALIAS' example - and we look forward to continuing that shared spirit of community giving for years to come.
Thank you to ALIAS for their trust, their friendship, and their significant contributions to Nashville's musical life.
To our Nashville Arts Community, it is with a profound sense of gratitude that, after 23 years of music making, we announce the official end of ALIAS Chamber Ensemble. Founded in 2002 by Nashville Symphony violinist Zeneba Bowers, ALIAS achieved incredible milestones over its 23-year history, including a Grammy nomination in 2012 for Best Small Ensemble Performance for its recording of "Hilos" by Gabriela Lena Frank, several additional critically acclaimed recordings, and numerous world premieres. While ALIAS' chapter in the story of the Nashville arts community is ending, we know the impact it created here will live on. Its mission of combining high-level artistic live concerts with community outreach and charitable giving has served as a model for several local arts organizations.
ALIAS has proudly donated its remaining assets to Vox Grata Women's Choir, founded by Jeanette MacCallum. We believe their mission's spirit aligns with ours, and we are confident they will be good stewards of the ALIAS legacy. Thank you to all our musicians, donors, supporters, and volunteers for believing in our vision of having a world-class ensemble in Nashville.
