CEC is joining advocates from across the country on Thursday for a national call-in day in support of people served by IDEA, their parents, professionals, and other concerned stakeholders. We will be phoning Congress with a unified message: keep IDEA in the U.S. Department of Education. You do not have to be a member of CEC to access the script and contact your representative!

For more information on contacting your representative and a sample script, please visit: https://exceptionalchildren.org/events/national-idea-call-day

We are proud to report that we are on the list! The time is now to let our voices be heard.

Established in 2021 as a federal holiday, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Today serves as an opportunity for Black Americans to celebrate their resilience and historical achievements through education, community events, and more.

The Administration has announced its plan to move special education from the Department of Education to the Department of Health and Human Services. At its core, IDEA is an education law, and moving special education programs to HHS deemphasizes its purpose.
