Are you a Tennessee Youth In Government alum who lives in Washington, D.C.? Join us at the annual Youth Governor’s Conference pinning ceremony and alumni dinner on June 10th on Capitol Hill! Space is limited so RSVP as soon as possible at ymca.quorum.us/event/23453/ . RSVP required to attend.
The YMCA Youth Governors Conference, hosted by YMCA of the USA, has been held annually for nearly 75 years. The five-day conference, sponsored by the MissionSquare Foundation, is modeled after the National Governors Association and engages more than 40 teens from across the country who serve as the Youth Governor of their state program. YMCA Youth and Government is a national program that impacts nearly 50,000 teens annually, empowering them to learn about—and experience—government policies and methodologies firsthand.
This year’s conference theme is Leadership in Action and while in D.C., students will spend a day volunteering at community organizations and throughout the week participate in breakout sessions about leadership, building civic bridges and connected communities, collaboration, and advocacy. A highlight of the week is the Alumni Dinner on Capitol Hill where Youth Governors are welcomed by a Congressional leader and have an opportunity to connect with alumni working in D.C.
