to the summer of 2016- the very beginning of PTM programming at St. Luke’s Community House’s Roger Center Gym. ❤️

For the last 10 years, this “PTM West” program has flourished, with students returning year after year, and a consistent waitlist of students. In addition to regular afterschool programming, this building has hosted early mornings of Bible studies and dodgeball, late nights of basketball and pizza, and countless fun activities at Christmastime and during summer break.

Since 2016, 2,000+ students and 2,100+ caring volunteers have walked through the red double doors of the Roger Center Gym.

While a chapter is closing and our time at St. Luke’s is ending, we are overjoyed to be starting a new chapter just down the street at a facility that is near and dear to many of our PTM West families! Our new partnership with Iglesia Metodista Ebenezer has already been fruitful and we believe it will help our roots go even deeper in the community we are serving in West Nashville!

Our joy-filled programming is continuing in West Nashville, but starting on Monday, we will be in our new home, and we cannot wait! đź’›

Because Fall Break starts tomorrow, today is FUN THURSDAY at PTM! đź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź

We follow the MNPS district calendar, so our regular after-school programs will be paused next week, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops! Many of our students will be participating in field trips, including a fun trip to Nashville Zoo for the Boo at the Zoo festival!

You may hear us say that at PTM we want to “treat every student like they’re our only student”, and it was out of that idea that our PTM heritage celebrations were created!

On Friday we gathered with all of our students for our Hispanic Heritage Celebration, and this time, our friends from NAHCC Foundation joined us for the celebration!

We were able to highlight some hispanic traditions, showcase student creations, hear from leaders in the community, and remind our students that each of them was created wonderfully and is cared for by PTM and God! đź’›

- fun programs with our partners (like Girls Inc. at YWCA Nashville)
- our daily reading classes and 1:1 sessions
- learning important lessons like the value of collaboration and working together

✨ Partner Spotlight: Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ✨

Friday was the first session of an amazing program that is leading for some of our 5th and 6th graders. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our students are participating in a hands-on arts education experience with Marco Vazquez, a visual artist and teacher, and Maribel Padron Rivera, a traditional Aztec dancer and culture bearer.

Through a variety of activities, our students are exploring Hispanic and Indigenous roots while connecting what they learn with their own stories.

We’re so grateful for this special opportunity, his new partnership, and for Lorain Segovia Paz, Executive Director of NAHCC, who is making this all happen! ❤️
