Yum! Our blackberries are ready to be harvested and they are TWO WEEKS EARLY! But, the blackberries are the boss so they dictate when they are ready. There are two shifts to pick, mornings and evenings. When you sign up you will be given instructions on how to pick and where to put your harvest if our regular weekly volunteers aren't in the garden. The main thing is making sure the berries are ALL BLACK and there is NO RED on them. We have found that the easiest way to harvest is in teams, one person inside the fence and one outside. They are thornless, so walk right into them to grab the berries high and low. This is an excellent family opportunity for families with young children but they must know their colors. Children tend to find the best berries down low in the canes!
