Bells Bend Conservation Corridor The Third Vision: For Nashvillians countywide to see and appreciate what’s in their own backyard – before it's gone.

As Nashville's urban growth has spread in all directions, the Beaman Park to Bells Bend Corridor has managed to retain a rural landscape that is in many ways unchanged from the time of its settlement in the nineteenth century. Like the far-sighted thinking in our own city that produced Shelby, Centennial and the Warner Parks, this last remaining area of working farms, upland trails, waterways, and wildlife ought to be saved - not only for the enjoyment of future generations, but also for the well-rounded planning of a great, livable city. Indeed, with its fertile bottomlands, rolling pastures, and forested hills, Bells Bend has been called "probably the best preserved historic agricultural landscape remaining in the county." The community has successfully fought off attempts by developers to encroach on the area with urban sprawl. In order to head-off future large-scale developments, the residents are now working with government and conservation agencies to permanently protect the area.

Come to a special Open House event Saturday, October 3rd 10am- Noon to see the old farm house, also known as the Buchanan House, to learn about its history and possibilities for its future. LinnAnn Welch, Bells Bend Park manager will be on site to answer questions.

This is the time for neighbors to think about the future of this community asset.  

The house is at the first driveway on the right, half a mile south of the Bells Bend Nature Center entrance  

The Buchanan House and its outbuildings were the heart of an over 2000-acrefarm operated by Robert G. Buchanan and his three sons, Robert, Winder, andThomas. The farm raised wheat and other grain and was known as one of the most productive in Bells Bend. Much of the original farm property is now part of Bells Bend Park

Friends of Bells Bend Park have been working to restore the exterior of the house.
Come see the house, bring your family and friends, wander around the house, drink lemonade and eat cookies, and share your thoughts!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
If you’re interested in getting involved and helping make
Ring the Bell a success, we would love to have you volunteer on the day of October 11th, 2026.
Here’s what we need:
• Event Set Up: Tables, chairs, tents and more. 8-10am
• Event Parking: Guide cars to ensure organized parking. 4-7pm
• Servers: for food, w**e & water.
Serving experience a plus. 6-9pm
• Bartenders: Just b**r & w**e (please have server permit) 4:30-9pm
• Parking attendant at end of the event to assist with avoiding holes and other vehicles.
• Clean up crew: Once the party is over, fold chairs, pick up trash, etc
