Tampa and Clearwater SAR members were honored to provide Color Guard duties at the Duke Energy Center, St Petersburg, on Saturday night. They shared the stage with the Florida Orchestra for the Star Spangled Banner. It was a wonderful Americana concert. 🇺🇸

On May 19, 2026 the “America 250 History Walk” was dedicated in Charlotte County’s William R. Gaines, Jr. Veterans’ Memorial Park at 20499 Edgewater Drive, Port Charlotte, FL. This unique collection of sixteen plaques tells the story of the American Revolution in vivid color and detail along a paved walkway. This exhibit was sponsored by the Charlotte Chapter Sons of the American Revolution, under the direction of Dr. Martin Calkins, Chapter President. The keynote speaker was Mark S. Sioma, the creative project designer and construction engineer of the entire display.
Guest speakers included Sons of the American Revolution Florida State President Jonathan Hunt, who brought greetings on behalf of the society.
Representatives from four distinct SAR chapters were present for the unveiling. Also present were several members of two DAR chapters. Debi Allen, DAR / SAR / SR Relations Chair Florida State DAR also made remarks to the assembly.
The America 250 Semiquincentennial History Walk will be available for viewing until Nov. 1, 2026 any time the William R. Gaines, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park is open. The park also contains a dedicated Liberty Tree and an America 250 historic marker sponsored by the Hickory Bluff DAR chapter.

Jonathan immediately showed his appreciation to a young man, James Hamilton. By presenting him a sword. From the current President to a future President! Compatriot Hamilton exemplifies what the Children of the American Revolution offers the SAR. James is the current C.A.R. National Treasurer, a member of FLSSAR and the Sons of Liberty Color Guard Brigade. James will be attending college at Florida Institute of Technology and majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a concentration in Aeronautics with a possible minor in Physics.

PG Elston a staunch supporter of the C.A.R. even joined in the presentation.

Congratulations Compatriot Jonathan Hunt - our newly elected President for the Florida Society Sons of the American Revolution. NSSAR President General Michael Elston attended our annual Installation Banquet and installed our newly elected officers and our new State President Jonathan Hunt.

On May 8, 2026, the City of Pensacola celebrated the legacy of legacy of General Bernardo de Gálvez. The celebration included a march from the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, a ceremony held in front of the Gálvez statue at Palafox and Wright Streets, and a Te Deum Mass at the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel.

Among those in attendance were Bishop William A. Wack, CSC, Mayor D.C. Reeves of Pensacola, and Mayor Antonio Campos of Macharaviaya, Spain (Gálvez's hometown).
