Calypso Cafe in Sylvan Heights is re-opening for dine-in service on Thursday, May 14th.

Calypso Cafe’s Charlotte Avenue location is fully reopening, with dine-in services returning.

Hi Sylvan Park neighbors!

I’m on staff at Spero Dei Church, and we truly love being part of this neighborhood. We have a community pantry located on the back side of our property near the corner of 37th. Our congregation keeps it stocked through an ongoing Amazon wishlist, and we’re so grateful for the neighbors who also help keep it full - thank you for caring for one another in this way.

In the near future, we’re hoping to expand the pantry and possibly add a small kids’ library for families at Park Avenue, so you may notice a little makeover coming soon.

If you’d like to contribute, we welcome it! To help keep the pantry clean and usable for everyone, please avoid leaving opened or used items, perishable foods (like bread or fresh produce), or anything that melts easily, as these tend to attract bugs and ants.

We’ve also found a few notes left in the box about who should be allowed to take items. Just like our church community, the pantry is open to all - we don’t monitor or decide who is in need.

"Calypso Cafe West Nashville is at 3307 Charlotte Ave. An opening date will be announced in the coming weeks. The restaurant will offer dine-in lunch, dinner and bar service. Takeout and delivery are now available Monday–Saturday, 11 a.m.-8:45 p.m."

For Calypso Cafe regulars, a new dining room will soon give them even more access to the Caribbean-spiced healthy food they've been eating for decades

Charlotte/West fans - we wanted to provide an update. We are currently doing UberEats and DoorDash out of this location. We started this up a couple of weeks ago. This has helped us get better Nashville coverage for delivery. Also, you can use either UberEats or DoorDash to order and come pick up in person! We are currently working on staffing, so that we can open up for call-in and walk-in to-go orders. Stay-tuned! And yes, we will eventually open this location for those that want to spend some time inside with us. Thanks for your patience and loyalty!

From our neighbor Loralyn Greene about an initiative that includes local neighborhoods including Sylvan Heights: A group of neighbors are coming together to establish Friends of Richland Park. We love this space that is not just a park. It is a place for community events, recreational sports, kids to play outside, borrowing books from our beloved library, accessing the Charlotte Business Corridor, and shopping local at the Richland Park Farmers Market. The list could go on.

We would appreciate hearing your thoughts about the park. We want to know what you love about the park and what frustrations you experience. Learning how the park is used will guide upcoming conversations about park improvements. Keep an eye out for additional surveys and in-person community meetings in the coming months.

This was the sunrise at Calypso a few days ago, and it seemed like a great picture to complement our exciting news. Calypso Cafe has changed ownership, but it’s still a family business. We’ll continue to offer all the same healthy food from the same wonderful team as we work on expansion plans, including longer hours, delivery, and our hopes to reopen the Charlotte location.
