In 1991, Dr. Randy Steger, marketing professor at Lipscomb University, presented a proposal to his students to do a different type of project for the end of the semester. He suggested they seek to meet the mounting needs for medical supplies and equipment in the former Soviet Union and other Eastern European nations. This humanitarian work would utilize the energy and abilities of the students to

make a significant difference in the lives of others and the class was ready for the challenge. They determined to secure three to four suitcases filled with medical supplies and equipment to send overseas with missionaries. Lipscomb finally had to ask them to leave campus because the donated supplies were taking over the auditorium! The day they packed up to leave campus they were able to fill two tractor trailers with all of the donated items. Through this urgent need for humanitarian relief the students organized the Healing Hands ministry, which was later incorporated as Healing Hands International in 1993. Since acquiring a 501c3 status in 1996, the Lord has truly blessed this work and HHI has been able to ship to more than 75 countries. The pipeline of resources has been tapped. What was once an idea has become a tool to provide aid to people suffering throughout the world. We recently had a successful Lunch 'N' Learn with a guest speaker, Samantha.

Samatha is the Family and Consumer Science Agent with UT-TSU Extension of Wilson County.

Participants learned the history of canning and the science behind proper food preservation. Hands-on experience guided by a local expert ensured the success of this Lunch 'N' Learn.

Hurricane Season starts today. Are you ready?

Churches across Jamaica are, and we want to say thank you to Matthew 25: Ministries! Their donation of supplies (including blankets, personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, tarps, and more) has been distributed across the island. Some of these much-needed items are helping with the ongoing recovery from Hurricane Melissa, the most powerful hurricane to make landfall in Jamaica, while other supplies are being set aside for the next emergency. When the next storm comes, our partners will be prepared to assist their family, neighbors, and entire communities.

Together, you raised more than $57,000 during our Spring Campaign, far surpassing the original goal of $35,000.

Your generosity will now overflow into additional communities still waiting for access to this same critical resource-bringing hope, dignity and opportunity to even more for families in Northern Uganda.

This week, we had a visit from 17 students from Nashville Christian School.

These students volunteered with our MAGI program along with a few of their teachers. They worked on 380 bags that will be sent to Venezuela, and also helped pack 400 boxes for Honduras.

It was incredible to see how engaged they were during their time at our facilities.
