🎉 Thank You to our YE youth and parents for an incredible Holiday Party! 🎉

We had a fantastic time celebrating the season at our Youth Empowered Holiday Party! From a delicious brunch to meaningful conversations, it was a joy to gather with our families and reflect on the year. While parents and board members discussed exciting plans for 2026, the youth enjoyed virtual soccer and football, old school arcade games, and cozy holiday movies—an all around joyful morning!

We’re heading into the new year fired up and focused! Up next: sunshine, saltwater, and sailing as we set our sights on an unforgettable adventure to the Caribbean island of St. John this June! ☀️⛵🏝️ It will be a week of discovery, connection, and growth—and we’d love for your youth to join us.

When Youth Empowered was founded in 2018 it was just supposed to be a tutoring program. But through the grace of God its has truly evolved into a family. Tonight, we had our first ever and every detail was wonderful. The food was delicious, the heart to heart conversation was encouraging, and the love was felt throughout the room. We truly love our families! A huge thank you to our board of directors for making tonight so amazing!

Today, Youth Empowered hung out with our community partners at Conner Prairie for a full day of reflection and outdoor challenge.

Our journey began with Promised Land as Proving Ground, an interactive exhibit that guided youth through the origin stories of some Indiana residents and how they built community here. This powerful experience set the stage for the day and gave context to our mission of cultivating strong, resilient leaders.

Then, we stepped into nature. From ziplining and obstacle courses to tetherball, low ropes, and archery, our campers pushed their bodies and minds, encouraged one another, and learned to trust the process. 🌳💪🏾

💚 Shout out to the team at Conner Prairie for making this experience safe, engaging, and FUN. And major love to our youth for showing up, being present, and reminding us what determination, curiosity, and joy look like in motion.

What an amazing weekend with our Youth Empowered crew at Happy Hollow Camp in Nashville, IN! 🏕️🌿

We drove over rolling hills and deep into the backwoods—and the scenery did not disappoint! Along the way (and right by our cabins) we spotted deer, frogs, snakes 😬, chickens, wild turkeys, horses, plus all kinds of birds and butterflies. Nature is pure magic!

Even though some beautiful rain decided to drop in and interrupt a few activities, we still got to climb the rock wall, zoom down the zap line, try our hand at archery, roast some marshmallows over the fire and take on some fun nature challenges.

Helping young people reconnect with the outdoors, explore new adventures, and see the joy on their faces—that’s truly why I do what I do. 💛

Already can’t wait for the next experience!

We just wrapped up several incredible weeks of sailing at the Indianapolis Sailing Club Academy out on Geist Lake—and our youth crushed it! ⛵💙

They’ve moved up through seven ranks, from Seaman Recruit all the way to Captain—and we’re so proud to share that several of our youth earned the rank of Captain this summer! But honestly, we’re proud of them all for showing up, trying something new, and learning the power of the wind and water together.

🙏🏾 A huge thank you to Michelle Sarber and the amazing CIT staff at the ISCA for welcoming our kids, guiding them with patience and skill, and making sure they had an unforgettable experience on the water.

Next up? Overnight camping at Happy Hollow in Brown County! 🌲🔥
🗓️ Saturday, July 12 at 12 PM – Sunday, July 13 at 12 PM
This is a chance for our youth to explore the outdoors, build friendships, hike, and enjoy a classic campfire night under the stars.

We just wrapped two amazing weeks of swimming lessons at The Irsay Family YMCA along with our partners at Why Aren't You Smiling - and our kids showed OUT! 🏊🏾‍♀️

From learning the basics to racing across the pool with confidence, our youth pushed past fears, built new skills, and had a blast while doing it! Seeing their joy, growth, and determination in the water was everything.

Big thanks to our families and to the YMCA team, especially Jake and Robert, for supporting this part of our summer journey.

Youth Empowered is back for the summer—exploring, learning, and growing in powerful new ways!

Our mission is to cultivate young minds through unconventional learning opportunities—and our flagship Explore program is doing just that by reconnecting Indianapolis youth (ages 12–18) to the beauty of blue and green spaces. From bird watching and hiking, to camping and sailing, our youth are gaining real-world skills and unforgettable experiences thanks to partnerships with Conner Prairie and the Indianapolis Sailing Club.

We kicked off our summer with CPR training led by DeAndra Dycus of A Mother’s Home Health Care! Youth learned the lifesaving basics of CPR, including how to check responsiveness, call for help, give chest compressions, and use an AED. Because empowerment includes knowing how to respond in emergencies.

We had an amazing time at our Holiday Pajama Party with our ginger bread houses, cookie making, holiday bingo and game truck. My heart is always full after seeing all the smiles on these bright faces.
