On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the Tennessee Kurdish Community Council (TKCC) had the honor of welcoming Hawraz Gulpi, a distinguished Kurdish journalist from AVA TV, to the TKCC office. During his visit, TKCC proudly congratulated Mr. Hawraz on receiving the prestigious Shorty Award in New York, recognizing his outstanding contributions to journalism.
The meeting provided an opportunity for a meaningful and productive discussion about AVA TV’s growing impact within mainstream media and its role in amplifying Kurdish voices. In recognition of his remarkable achievement and dedication, TKCC presented Mr. Gulpi with a certificate of appreciation.
During the visit, Mr. Hawraz also highlighted the vital role of the Kurdish diaspora, particularly the Nashville community, in supporting media, cultural preservation, and advocacy efforts.

On behalf of the Tennessee Kurdish Community Council (TKCC), we would like to express our deepest gratitude to our Nashville community and to our friends from across the country who came to celebrate Newroz with us. Thank you for being part of such a wonderful and memorable celebration. Our goal has always been to create a safe, joyful, and welcoming environment for everyone.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our amazing staff, volunteers, contributors, and partnering organizations who made this event possible. A special thanks to our talented musicians for filling the night with music and energy.

At TKCC, we are deeply committed to supporting and uplifting our local musicians and artists in every way we can. Our history speaks for itself. We take pride in balancing different Kurdish dialects, styles, and musical traditions at every Newroz celebration.

Each year, Newroz brings both new joys and new challenges, and that’s part of what makes this journey meaningful. We will continue striving to improve the quality of our events and to serve our community with humility and dedication, within the resources we have.
