2026 Spirit of the District Award Announcement!

The DISTRICT is proud to announce Barrett Hobbs as the recipient of the 2026 Spirit of The DISTRICT Award. Barrett has dedicated his career to enhancing Nashville’s entertainment, tourism, and downtown business community while preserving the authentic character that makes the city unique.

Barrett Hobbs is a Nashville native, multi-generational hospitality leader, and Founder and Principal of Cumberland Hospitality Group. Continuing a legacy that began with his family founding of the Nashville Palace in 1977, Barrett owns and operates some of Nashville’s most recognized entertainment venues, including the Scoreboard Bar & Grill, Bootleggers Inn, and Doc Holliday’s with continued operation of the iconic Nashville Palace.

His impact extends well beyond hospitality through decades of service to Nashville through many leadership affiliations including:

Board Member, Nashville Sports Council

Active Member, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation (CVC)

Founding Member, Broadway Entertainment Association

Former Chair, The DISTRICT and District Merchants Association, (10+ years)

For the first time the official Pride Parade traveled down historic 2nd Avenue, bringing a celebration of love, diversity, and community directly through the heart of downtown Nashville.

We were honored to welcome visitors, neighbors, and supporters as they made history together on one of Nashville’s most iconic streets. 2ndAveStrong

We’re excited to invite you to our 40th Annual Progressive Party! This year we are celebrating 40 Years of Neon, Notes and Nightlife and we are pulling out all the stops!

For 40 years, this extraordinary fundraiser has brought our community together in celebration and support of the neighborhoods we love. This year’s event honors that legacy while embracing the continued energy and evolution of 2nd Avenue, Printers Alley, and Lower Broadway.

On Wednesday, September 16, from 6–10 PM, we’ll raise a glass to four decades of impact as we sip, savor, and stroll through three of the District’s exciting destinations, including:

Music, resilience, and Nashville spirit filled the street once again, proving that 2nd Ave. isn’t just historic it’s unbreakable.
