The numbers are in, and they should stop every parent in their tracks.

In 2025, reports of online enticement increased by 156%, child s*x trafficking reports surpassed 105,000, and NCMEC received more than 1.5 million reports involving generative AI and child s*xual exploitation.

But here's what those numbers really mean:
More children are being approached by predators online. More children are being manipulated, groomed, and exploited through devices they use every day. More offenders are using technology, including AI, to target children in ways many parents have never imagined. The greatest threat to a child is no longer limited to someone standing nearby.

Today, it can come through a gaming platform, a social media app, a DM, or a phone sitting safely in their bedroom. These are not someone else's children. They are our children.

At Operation Light Shine, we remain committed to equipping investigators, advancing technology, strengthening partnerships, and supporting the professionals working every day to identify victims, hold offenders accountable, and protect children before they become another statistic.

The technology is evolving.
The threat is growing.
Our commitment to protecting children remains unwavering.

Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect children.

Over the past three days, Operation Light Shine was honored to participate in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Child Abduction Response Team (CART) training, where law enforcement professionals from across the state gathered to strengthen their response to missing, endangered, and abducted children.

Our Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alina Donahue, joined John Yancey, Resident Agent in Charge for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and a member of the Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, to deliver a powerful presentation focused on human trafficking and child exploitation.

We are grateful to FDLE and the CART program for their commitment to equipping professionals with the knowledge and resources needed to protect children. Every opportunity to educate is an opportunity to strengthen our collective response and improve outcomes for the children and families we serve.

Every missing child has a name, a face, and a story.
They are more than a case number. More than a report.
They are a child who deserves to be found.

This video captures what happens when people refuse to stop looking.

For three days, law enforcement, child protection professionals, victim advocates, analysts, technology partners, and nonprofit organizations worked side by side across Southwest Florida with one objective: find vulnerable children and bring them to safety.

What makes these operations extraordinary is not any one agency, organization, or individual.
It's the collaboration.

It is detectives sharing intelligence in real time.
It is analysts following leads.
It is advocates preparing to support a child the moment they are found.
It is technology accelerating investigations.
It is partners choosing mission over ego and working toward a common goal.

This operation resulted in the recovery of 21 missing and endangered children, including children who were at risk for trafficking and exploitation.

Not every missing child is kidnapped.
Many are running from abuse.
Neglect.
Violence.
Exploitation.
Some don't believe anyone is looking for them.

We want every child to know this:
You matter. You are not forgotten. And there are people who will never stop searching for you.

At Operation Light Shine, we are proud to support this work through our SWFL INTERCEPT Task Force, helping provide the technology, resources, and personnel that empower investigators to do what they do best: protect children and pursue those who exploit them.

We are deeply grateful to the National Child Protection Task Force, whose leadership, expertise, and commitment helped make this operation possible, and to the more than 145 professionals who showed up ready to work, collaborate, and fight for children they had never met.

Because when organizations come together, walls come down.
When resources are shared, cases move faster.
When communities unite, children come home.
We are grateful for the 21 children who were found.

But we never forget the reason this work exists.
Somewhere tonight, another child is missing.
And we'll be ready to look.

1,245 images and videos of child s*xual abuse material. One more offender now behind bars!

This arrest is a powerful reminder that protecting children requires vigilance, technology, and collaboration.

Following a tip from a local pawn shop, detectives with the Collier County Sheriff's Office, working alongside the Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, launched an investigation that uncovered more than 1,200 CSAM images and videos on a laptop belonging to a registered s*x offender.

Analysts in the Real-Time Operations Center located the suspect's vehicle in East Naples and relayed real-time information to responding deputies, helping bring the investigation to a safe and swift resolution.

The Southwest Florida INTERCEPT Task Force brings together local, state, and federal partners with one shared mission: identifying offenders, protecting children, and combating exploitation in our communities.

Every arrest represents more than a case closed.
It represents children protected, offenders held accountable, and a community refusing to look the other way.

21 children. 3 days. Countless lives impacted.

This week, Operation Light Shine was honored to stand alongside the National Child Protection Task Force, law enforcement agencies, child protection professionals, advocacy organizations, and technology partners during a coordinated Missing Child Rescue Operation across Southwest Florida.

Working together across Collier, Lee, and Hendry counties, this multi-agency effort resulted in the recovery of 21 missing and endangered children, many of whom were at increased risk for trafficking, exploitation, and further harm. For us, this work is about more than statistics.

Throughout the operation, a bell rang each time a missing child was located or identified. With every ring came a moment of hope, a reminder of why this work matters. By the end of the operation, the bell had rung 21 times.
Twenty-one children! Twenty-one opportunities for safety, support, and a brighter future.

As a partner in this operation through our INTERCEPT Task Force, we witnessed firsthand what can happen when agencies, nonprofits, advocates, and technology partners come together with a shared mission: finding vulnerable children and connecting them to the resources they need. The work doesn't end when a child is located. Recovery is only the beginning.

Thank you to the National Child Protection Task Force and the more than 145 professionals who dedicated their time, expertise, and resources to this operation. The recovery of 21 children is proof that collaboration is more than a buzzword. It is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect vulnerable children, support families, and create safer communities.

Right now, detectives are overwhelmed, many carrying dozens of active child exploitation investigations at once. And that number grows every single day.

Backlog doesn’t mean a lack of care. It means a lack of time, resources, and manpower.

Because of your support, we were able to fund the overtime and personnel needed to proactively work these tips and conduct knock-and-talk operations, turning waiting into action when it matters most.

This operation was carried out in partnership with our SWFL INTERCEPT Task Force and the Lee County Sheriff's Office

The demand is growing faster than the resources available. If you believe these investigations shouldn’t sit unanswered, stand with us. Your support puts investigators on the ground, doors being knocked, and leads being followed.

Support the mission. Help us keep up with the demand.

The most dangerous person in your child’s life may never step foot near them. They can reach them through a screen.

A game chat.
Instagram.
Snapchat.
Discord.
A direct message at 2AM.

Not strangers in vans.
Not dark alleyways.

It's the phone your child sleeps next to every night.

This is the reality investigators are facing every single day. Predators are using the same technology children use daily to groom, manipulate, and exploit them online. And while these threats continue evolving rapidly, many law enforcement agencies are still working with limited resources and outdated systems.

Operation Light Shine is helping equip law enforcement with advanced technology, funding, and investigative support to identify offenders faster, protect children, and support active investigations in real time.

The threat has changed.
The response must change with it.

What we have today was built on sacrifice.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country, those who never made it home, and the families who have carried that weight ever since.

Behind every folded flag is more than service.
It’s a name.
A story.
A family forever changed.
A future willingly laid down so others could have theirs.

In a world that moves fast, it’s easy to let the meaning of this day get lost between plans, long weekends, and celebrations. But Memorial Day has always been about remembrance.

About honoring the courage of those who gave everything. Freedom has a cost. Today, we remember those who paid it. We remember. We honor. 🇺🇸

You’ve probably driven past it.
Walked by it.
Never realizing what was happening inside.

Human trafficking does not always look like the movies. Sometimes it hides behind ordinary businesses, busy parking lots, and everyday places people never question.

That’s what makes this crime so dangerous. While most people go about their day, victims are being exploited in silence.

The INTERCEPT Task Force is working to change that through proactive investigations, intelligence sharing, and collaboration between local, state, and federal agencies.

Because trafficking thrives in secrecy.
And secrecy ends when people start paying attention.

This week, Operation Light Shine participated in the Crimes Against Women Conference, joining law enforcement, prosecutors, advocates, medical professionals, and frontline experts from across the country committed to addressing exploitation, violence, and victimization.

OLS Director of Strategic Partnerships, Alina Donahue, presented twice during the conference, including a presentation focused on human trafficking and forced criminality, an often misunderstood form of coercion and exploitation. Both sessions were met with packed rooms and meaningful engagement from professionals working directly in this fight every day.

As trafficking tactics continue to evolve, conversations like these remain critical in strengthening awareness, improving response efforts, and advancing collaboration across disciplines.

Operation Light Shine remains committed to equipping professionals, supporting collaboration, and helping move this work forward nationwide.
