“This past season I had the opportunity to go down to Florida to attempt to harvest my first Osceola turkey.

I was fortunate to have my friend Jay take me out on his family farm to hunt some swamp gobblers!

Day one there was no shortage of gobbling activity. From sunrise to mid afternoon we got on several different gobblers, but none of em wanted to play the game.

That evening sat out until dark. While I was calling at several owls sitting in the trees above me, we heard a gobbler thunder off about 70 yards in front of us. It was that kinda dark at dusk where it’s real hard to see. Finally I saw a turkey but it was so small I thought it was a hen…it wasn’t. Anyway I didn’t shoot.

The next day after lunch we went back to the same spot from the previous evening. After about an hour or so, Jay spotted a gobbler on the edge of the woods. We started calling and witching 10 mins a pair of Tom’s came strutting into the woods, and one of em came home with me.

Thankful for such a great harvest this past season”

🇺🇸 Happy Birthday America 🇺🇸

Thankful to live in a country where we have freedom and the ability to chase these birds we love so much!

“Twenty years ago I participated and watched the release of wild turkey onto several tracts of land in my hometown of Dyersburg, TN.

The men who put forth the effort to establish those flocks were a true inspiration to me, and to this day I thank those men for their efforts as spring time gobbles still ring out from their work.

Today, I reside in Nashville and am the current president of the newly formed Music City chapter of the NWTF. My goal is that someone in the future looks back and is influenced by the efforts put forth by our chapter.

As I’ve heard Will Primos say many times, “you protect what you love,” and there’s not a group out there more passionate about a resource than turkey hunters.

I’m proud to be apart of that group, and excited to see how our work can help preserve the wild turkey for future generations.”

Send us your shots and stories from your 23’ season as we continue to look back on a great spring.
