I bought a house in the Hillhurst neighborhood in 2016, Hillhurst is a historic neighborhood with rolling hills and quiet streets. When I first moved into the neighborhood I spoke with a lot of the neighbors who have lived her for years and they shared so many cool stories. As I started researching the history of the neighborhood I found so much cool information online and thought it would be helpful to consolidate my findings and put it on a public forum so other people can add their findings and experiences. New affodable housing coming to Dickerson Pike. - The Opaline at Artist Hill, is a mixed-use affordable and artist-centric project that reflects the heart of East Nashville. In addition to the 251 units, which will be offered to residents at 60% Area Median Income, the development will also feature:

- Nonprofit services, studios, and maker spaces for creatives;
- An expanded, new 4,000-square-foot child care facility for the - - Lotus Learning Center on site; 7,000 sf of retail; and
- A future WeGo transit hub on Dickerson Pike.

The Opaline will be a 251-unit affordable housing mixed-use development located on Dickerson Pike.

Council Approves New Residential Zoning Districts, DADU Options. Metro Council just approved zoning changes that give homeowners more flexibility than we have seen in years. Starting in April, almost every residential lot in the city will be allowed to add a second housing unit. That includes a DADU, which simply means a detached accessory dwelling unit. Think a small cottage in the backyard or a garage apartment that fits the scale of the neighborhood.
If you live in the parts of Davidson County outside the core city area, you will be able to opt in as well. Nothing is applied automatically. Homeowners or councilmembers will have to request the new zoning for specific properties or neighborhoods.
This shift supports multigenerational living, creates space for long term rental income, and gives people more control over how they use the land they already own. It is a meaningful change for anyone who wants more options without losing the character of the community. We’re glad our friend brought it to the table along with , and .

Nettie's Spicy Chik is coming to Dickerson Pike! Nettie's Spicy Chik is slated to open Nov. 1 in about 975 square feet of space in the structure, located at 811 Dickerson Pike and one block south of iconic business Last Chance Liquors.

Simpson describes her chicken with the motto, “It’s not just hot, it’s spicy.” Simpson is targeting a Nov. 1 opening along Dickerson Pike, as construction is still to come on the space.

Developer Wedgewood Avenue is advancing Phase 1 of The Pike, a major mixed-use development on Dickerson Pike. The developer released updated renderings in 2023 as the project was going through initial site approvals and has reached the final stage for Phase 1. This first phase includes 3 multifamily buildings with amenities. The Pike is bordered by Dickerson Pike, Marie Street, and Gatewood Avenue with a reference address of 123 Marie Street.
