We had the wonderful opportunity to attend DART’s Recovery Celebration Resource Fair!

Our team shared information about our services and educated individuals about naloxone—how to use it and why it is so important to keep it in the home.

We heard many powerful testimonies from people whose lives were saved because naloxone was available when they needed it. Access, education, and preparation truly save lives.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the Homecoming: Women’s Reentry event, and it was truly amazing! So many dedicated community partners were in the room, collaborating and sharing ideas about how we can strengthen our efforts and more effectively support women navigating reentry.
Meaningful change happens when we come together, build partnerships, and commit to doing the work. I’m grateful to have been part of such an important conversation!

Yesterday, our Nash and Edgecombe Housing staff participated in an informative staff meeting and professional development training.
During the session, we introduced our new curriculum, developed by our very own Mrs. Herring. Mrs. Henderson also provided valuable education and training on opioid awareness, overdose prevention, and the proper use of naloxone.
As an agency, we are committed to equipping our staff with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to effectively serve our clients and communities. We believe that investing in our staff strengthens our programs, improves the quality of our services, and ultimately creates a greater impact in the lives of those we serve.

When our staff grows, our impact grows!

R2R LRC Case managers facilitated a Budgeting and Financial Literacy class at Braswell Library to provide participants with practical knowledge and skills to better manage their finances and make informed financial decisions.

During the class, participants had the opportunity to simulate receiving a paycheck and work through the process of allocating their income. They practiced creating a budget, prioritizing expenses, and distinguishing between needs and wants.

Participants also received a visual representation of how much money would remain after covering the needs portion of their budget. This hands-on activity helped participants better understand how everyday spending decisions can impact their available income.

The class concluded with a discussion on best practices for managing and utilizing remaining income, including the importance of:

Building and maintaining savings
Investing for future financial growth
Understanding and preparing for taxes
Contributing to a 401(k) or other retirement accounts
Building and maintaining good credit
Making intentional financial decisions that support long-term financial stability

The class provided participants with an interactive and practical approach to budgeting and financial literacy, with an emphasis on developing healthy financial habits and preparing for a stronger financial future.
