WCSO Presents Inaugural DUI Enforcement Award

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes Deputy Antonio Guzman with the inaugural WCSO DUI Enforcement Award, an internal recognition of the deputy whose commitment to DUI enforcement made our Williamson County streets safer in 2025.

This award honors the life and legacy of Brentwood Police Officer Destin Legieza, who was tragically struck and killed by a drunk driver while serving his community. Destin’s parents, Franklin Police Lieutenant Scott Legieza and mother Julie Walls, joined Sheriff Jeff Hughes and Captain Jesse Williams in presenting this award in what is a somber reminder of the potential devastation and consequences of driving while impaired.

“DUI enforcement is a priority for our Deputies,” said Captain Jesse Williams. “Every impaired driver we take off the street honors the memory of Destin and helps prevent tragedies like the one that took his life.”

Deputy Guzman has made 28 DUI arrests alone thus far in 2025. In total, the WCSO has seen a 60.2% increase in DUI arrests in 2025 compared to last year.

Drive sober. Drive smart. Arrive alive.

Last week, one of our board members, who is also a certified DUI/SFST Instructor, assisted teaching DUI/SFST Week for one of the activity groups at the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) for Basic Police School 2124. This class (40 hr block of instruction) is presented five times during each basic police school session (four times a year) and is led by a team of dedicated DUI instructors who share the same goal: to provide new officers with the best training possible, to assist them take impaired drivers off Tennessee's roadways and save lives. Each class is given the opportunity to hear an impactful video with Scott and Julie sharing their personal experience of the incident along with details of the terrible crash.

On the morning of July 16, a mother crossed the double yellow line on Harding Pike and crashed head-on into a pickup truck. She was allegedly under the influence, with her two young children in the car.

Her 3-year-old daughter was killed. Her 2-year-old son, who turned 3 just two days later, remains hospitalized.

Police say the crash was the result of impaired and careless driving, a deadly combination that changed this family’s life forever.

This is why we fight. Officer Destin Legieza was also killed by an impaired driver. These tragedies are preventable, and we must keep pushing for awareness and responsibility.

Drive sober. Drive focused. Drive responsibly. Innocent lives depend on it.
