Did you know that there is a craft brewery in our own backyard? Tailgate Brewery is located off of Charlotte Pike, and they specialize in small batch brews with a wide selection to suit most beer drinkers' palates. They also serve a delicious list of creative pizzas and appetizers.

This place is huge and filled with personality. The walls are covered in graffiti-like designs with two large rooms inside and a huge outdoor space. Shaded and unshaded picnic tables overlook the ridge outside, and the outdoor covered pavilion includes more tables and a large projector screen.

This is a nice spot to host an event or to try a flight of independent craft beer. Tailgate Brewery is a staple in the community.

This photo was taken along the 5.8-11.2 mile loop trails in Percy Warner Park. These 2 trails wind up and down the mossy ridges of the park. Signs designate the 5.8-mile loop versus the extended 11.2-mile loop. These 2 paved loops are closed off to vehicle traffic and are very popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists.

There is also a side route off the loop that leads to an overlook of the rolling hills and downtown buildings of Nashville.

Harpeth River State Park - Narrows of the Harpeth - Tunnel Trail

As promised in my previous post about the Narrows, here is where the 3rd trail leads! Originating from the same trailhead as the other 2 trails, this 0.7-mile easy out-and-back trail leads to the Montgomery Bell Tunnel.

This tunnel was built in 1819 at the direction of Montgomery Bell for his iron foundry that was located here. Utilizing a 16' drop from one side of the Narrows to the other, a 290' tunnel was created and used to help operate an iron forge in the area.

This tunnel is believed to be the first full-sized tunnel built in the United States. Now that the iron foundry is no longer in existence, a waterfall is left at the exit of the tunnel.

Harpeth River State Park - Narrows of the Harpeth

Just 20 minutes outside Bellevue, in Kingston Springs, is the Narrows of the Harpeth. Here, the river makes almost a complete circle and flows back right past itself. Between the 2 sections of the river, a tall bluff is left carved out in the middle.

You can take the 1/4 mile hike up the bluff for some amazing views overlooking the river, farms, and hills of Tennessee. The hike is steep so it is not recommended for those with difficulty walking or afraid of heights.

2 other trails originate from the trailhead at the Narrows. One is a 1.1 mile out-and-back trail that goes along the river and leads to a picnic area with a canoe ramp. The other leads to a very interesting historic spot down in the middle of the Narrows. Stay tuned to my future post for a feature on where this 3rd trail leads!

Bars of Bellevue - Plantation Pub

A very popular neighborhood bar and restaurant Plantation Pub has a large menu of bar style food, weekly beer and drink specials, trivia, and sometimes live bands.

A connected outdoor deck allows smoking and gets enclosed with canvas sides and a heater during the cooler months. There are several outdoor and indoor TV's. The patio is fairly shaded and is a great place to sit outside during the summer afternoons and evenings. Another source of entertainment on the outdoor patio is watching any chaos that might happen on the nearby roundabout from my last post! 😂

Stop by for a meal and beer the service is always great!

Suburban Bellevue Roundabout

This roundabout was built in 2019 at the intersection of Sawyer Brown and Todd Pries. You've probably driven through it many times and wondered if it helps traffic or creates more problems.

Regardless, much traffic passes through this roundabout daily. And for many, sitting on the patio of nearby Plantation Pub with a beer and watching the roundabout provides some entertainment.

Do you think this roundabout helps traffic or causes more problems? Let me know in the comments below.

Voodoo Gumbo, a Cajun and Creole restaurant, has been serving traditional styles of Louisiana cooking in the Bellevue community since 2017. 🐊🥖 They offer a range of dishes that include classics like jambalaya, gumbo, étouffée, red beans and rice, po'boys, and a selection of fried seafood. 🌶️

As their name suggests, they focus on delicious gumbo. Pictured is the chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, Gator Po' Boy, and jambalaya. The restaurant also features decor that reflects the cultural heritage of Louisiana. Don't forget to try the beignets for dessert!

We recently hiked the Harpeth Woods Trail in Edwin Warner Park. It was a 2.5-mile moderate loop with some rocks and mild elevation changes (341 ft gain).

It took us about an hour and a half and is marked with blue signage. It passes by an old 1930s rock quarry that was used for Edwin and Percy Warner park construction projects.

We also counted 8 deer that we passed.

The trail is well-maintained, and we would recommend it to anyone looking to get some exercise out in nature!

The Roze Pony is an all-day market café located 10 minutes up Highway 70S or Highway 100 in Belle Meade.

The aesthetic inside is a VIBE, and the service and waiters are great. This is a casual place to bring a date.

We've been here for breakfast and dinner, both of which were delicious. You can also come in for grab-and-go type café items or lunch.

Also, don't miss out on their large cocktail menu.

Pictured items include Crispy Lobster & Polenta Fritters, Fennel Seared Pork Chop, Lemon Roasted Trout, a bourbon Old Fashioned, and a Cowboy Squint.
