Dear Scouting America New Hampshire Volunteers,
On July 30, 2025, the Executive Board of Scouting America New Hampshire confidently approved a resolution to reorganize our District Service Structure. This decision is the result of months of insightful discussions, in-depth analysis, and reflection on how we can best empower our Scouts, units, and families in a changing world.
What Changes Are Being Made?
This resolution marks the formation of a passionate volunteer-led task force focused on designing and implementing a new model for delivering Unit Service throughout the Council. We are evolving from a traditional district-based model, initially created to support over 600 units and 15,000 Scouts, to an agile, unit-centered approach that offers localized services tailored to the immediate needs of our units and volunteers.
Why Are We Making This Change Now?
Our current landscape has transformed in several significant ways:
We are facing a diminishing pool of district-level volunteers.
Membership is declining in many areas.
Budgetary constraints challenge our operations.
These factors result in a pressing need for a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable service delivery model.
This resolution marks the first step forward, empowering us to develop a service model that is realistic, responsive, and tailored to New Hampshire while remaining true to Scouting's core mission.
What Happens Next?
We stand at the beginning of an exciting journey. The new model awaits development, and you are essential to this process. In the coming weeks, the task force will begin its vital work, and your insights, experiences, and creativity are crucial for shaping this promising future. Your feedback will help ensure that every unit is well-supported, every volunteer has the necessary tools, and every Scout can thrive.
