Team Phoenix 4-H Robotics Club Team Phoenix 4-H Robotics Club meets at Academy for Science and Design, Nashua, NH

Team Phoenix (Team 2342) was started to provide an alternative opportunity to students in Southern New Hampshire to experience FIRST Robotics. The Nashua / Manchester, New Hampshire area was the birthplace of FIRST, and as such has matured to the point that many schools in the region have a FIRST Robotics team. However, just like sports, there was a growing number of students who preferred to join a community team rather than a team solely aligned with their school. In addition, the home school and charter school student population is growing, providing the critical mass required to sustain a team. Team Phoenix was formed to create the opportunity of FIRST Robotics to any student regardless of school affiliation. Team Phoenix benefits from a close partnership with The Academy for Science and Design that generously provides work space for the team.

Governor’s Cup was held yesterday. We were honored to receive the Governor’s Cup, earning all 10 of our seniors a scholarship for one semester of tuition at any NH public university! We’re also incredibly proud of our senior Abi who received an individual $2,500 scholarship!

The judges shared, “Community is at the forefront for this team. Their enthusiasm and pride was obvious in the way they spoke about each other.” We couldn’t ask for a better description of what Team Phoenix is all about.

On the field, we joined Alliance 5 with Potential Energy and the Blue Devils and advanced to Round 3. We also shared our EarthFIRST! work in the Expo and donated more than a dozen 3D-printed adaptive zipper pulls to Assistive Technology New Hampshire.

On Thursday we hosted the first of our two open houses and we couldn't be more excited about the turnout. We had prospective members show up interested in every single subteam. It's clear there's no shortage of talented, curious people in our community who want to keep the flame burning! If you couldn't make it, our other date is Monday Sep 14th at 6:30 at ASD.

We’re grateful to the Academy for Science and Design Charter School for providing Team Phoenix with a space to call home for our robotics program, so when ASD had a computer cart in need of some repairs, our team was happy to put our skills to work!

A few of our students (with mentor guidance) were able to diagnose the problem, make the needed repairs, and get the cart back in working order.

We love opportunities to use the skills we develop through FIRST NH to give back to the community that supports us. Thank you, ASD, for all you do for Team Phoenix!
