About Allies
The first Allies conferences were held in Nashua NH between 1995 and 1999 to address the role interpreters had in Deaf people's experience of oppression. They were hard…and productive…and exciting…and for many people beneficial. We didn't solve it then, but we opened up a dialogue that was valuable.
This is not a workshop, but rather a conversation between members of Deafworld and the interpreting world. Don't sign up for this workshop because you need CEUs. Sign up to be challenged, to grow, to be vulnerable, to take in/understand and to explore how we, together, can make a difference in the impact the interpreting world has on Deaf people and Deafworld.
