Greater Nashua Continuum of Care Working together to end homelessness in our community

The Greater Nashua Continuum of Care (GNCOC), formalized in 1995, includes the City of Nashua and nine surrounding communities in Hillsborough County. The general purpose of the Continuum is to apply for funding for programs and services to address homelessness. The GNCOC is made up of nonprofit agencies (shelters, food pantries, transitional housing and permanent supportive housing agencies), ser

vice providers, the banking and business communities, faith-based organizations, veteran’s service agencies, welfare, educational institutions, youth organizations, representation from federal and state government, homeless or formerly homeless people and other concerned citizens. Following the guidelines of the Nashua Consolidated Plan and the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness, many goals have been realized, including additional affordable housing units, increased participation from towns in the GNCOC geographical area and from the business community, and greater awareness of and involvement in local, state, and national legislative issues concerning homelessness.

Susan Mead is retiring from Greater Nashua Mental Health after 40 years of providing outreach and support to those experiencing homelessness, as well as a myriad of other community services. She has been an integral part of the GNCOC since its inception and we will miss her very much. Congratulations Sue!!!

We had an amazing turnout yesterday for the Strategic Plan Retreat! Approximately 85 folks attended from our non-profit, business and lived experience communities to revitalize our collective energies and plan new strategies to end homelessness. Big thanks to Rotary Club of Nashua for their sponsorship of this work. Additional thanks to Chick-fil-A for the refreshments

What is the definition of homelessness? For many youth in Greater Nashua , the answer is more complicated than simply living on the streets. 🛏️💭

At the Front Door, we realize that homelessness can have many appearances for young people in our community. The definition of it encompasses a wide variety of situations, such as: couch surfing, staying with friends or even strangers, living in unsafe or unstable housing, being without family support, or facing crisis.

Our Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) helps young individuals ages 18-24 who may find themselves in these types of housing situations. We supply them with 3-8 months of stable, communal housing so they have the tools and support they need to get back onto a path of success.

To learn more about who the YHDP impacts, visit our website: https://www.frontdooragency.org/programs/youth-homelessness-demonstration-program/
