The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program aims to reward and recognize girls in their senior year of high school. The Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program has five phases of competition:
Scholastics (25% of overall score)
Interview (25% of overall score)
Talent (20% of overall score)
Fitness (15% of overall score)
Self-Expression (15% of overall score)
Scholarship awards are given to the young woman who earns the top score in each category as well as to second alternate, first alternate and, of course, the winner of the title of the Distinguished Young Woman of New Hampshire. Many in-kind college scholarships are also made available simply by entering and participating in this program! By earning the title of the Distinguished Young Woman of New Hampshire, this young women also earns the right to compete at the national level representing the Granite State at the Distinguished Young Women of America scholarship competition. There she will compete for cash and in-kind scholarships as well as meet 49 other Distinguished Young Women while having the experience of a lifetime. Distinguished Young Women finals are held down in Mobile, Alabama where the program was founded. Filled with a rich history, the 50 Distinguished Young Women spend 2 weeks making appearances, practicing routines, and making unforgettable memories which culminates in 3 days of competition where the new Distinguished Young Women is chosen!
