He thought God was offering an escape from a grueling T-shirt factory job. Instead, God revealed that true pastoral calling meant finding God's heart for the very people he was trying to leave behind. Greatness isn't about climbing, but about serving.

Blaise Pascal said the human heart has a God-shaped vacuum. We crave validation, but often trade God's radical love for the approval of others. Jesus asked, 'How can you believe when you receive glory from one another and don't seek the glory that comes from the only God?' If we're living for the approval of many, we may be missing out on God's love. What recognition do you desperately seek? Are you devastated by criticism or over-inflated by praise? The audience you live for shapes who you become.

09/02/2026

Are you trading the audience of many for the audience of one? Jesus reminds us we have one Teacher, one Father, one Lord. His attention matters most. In a culture that craves external validation, His quiet voice speaks to your soul.

God showed me greatness isn't about climbing, but about getting low to lift others. Jesus, in His divine nature, became a servant, humbled himself to death for us. Now, we're freed from seeking validation to give ourselves away in radical humility, service, and love.

Our culture pushes us to seek the approval of many, drowning out the quiet voice that speaks to our soul. Social media amplified this desire, offering a constant scorecard of likes, followers, and views. Be aware, or this relentless pursuit can crush you.

If your security relies on others' validation, you'll never be truly secure. Ask yourself: Would you serve if only God saw your actions? True followers love Jesus and show it by loving people, even without any recognition. It's about serving a different audience for a different reason.

08/31/2026

We crave recognition from bosses, family, and even strangers online. This deep-seated need to be known and loved is natural, but seeking it in the wrong places leads to frustration and insecurity. Are you driven by external validation?

When we picture religion, certain images may come to mind: flowing robes, clerical collars, ceremonial clothing—things that can make religious leaders seem somehow different from the rest of us.

And when the person wearing the religious image doesn't live up to it, we're often quick to spot the hypocrisy.

But are we really that different?

We may not wear the robes, but we know how to manage an image, presenting ourselves carefully at work, online, at church, and even among our friends. We want to be seen a certain way. Successful. Put together. Important. Spiritual. Somebody worth noticing.

But what happens when we begin living for the image we're projecting—or the people we're trying to impress?

This Sunday, we're continuing our series “Woes: Confronting False Religion” by looking at one of Jesus' most penetrating warnings to the religious leaders of His day. And we'll wrestle with a question that goes beyond religion:

What audience are you living for?
